As I’m coming around it almost looks like the outline of a face has been worn into what’s left of the island. It almost like Glooscap is watching over Blomidon

December 30, 2025, 11:12 am

RCMP release:

Kings District RCMP recovered more than $50,000 in stolen property and charged two men after executing a search warrant at a property in Canning.

On December 18, Kings District RCMP, with assistance of the Southwest Nova Street Crime Enforcement Unit, executed a search warrant at a property in the 9600 block of Hwy. 221 as part of an ongoing stolen property investigation. Three men were safely arrested.

Officers located and seized stolen items, including, a boat and trailer, golfcart, building materials, construction tools, appliances, and clothing, among other goods. Officers also seized a quantity of co***ne and a firearm.

The recovered items are believed to be associated with more than 20 retail thefts in Kings County, which were under investigation by Kings County District RCMP. Investigators are in the process of returning the items to the businesses.

“The successful recovery of the stolen items is the result of the diligent efforts of our investigation team and the support of the community,” says Insp. William Collier, Kings District RCMP. “This outcome not only restores possessions to their rightful owners, it reaffirms our commitment to safety and justice for all.”

Darren Myles Balsor, 51, of Aylesford, and Richard William Manning, 33, of Canning, have each been charged with a number of offences, including:

Careless Use of Firearm
Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
Possession of Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

The two are also facing charges under the Excise Act and Revenue Act. Additionally, Balsor has been charged with Failure to Comply with Undertaking (two counts).

The third man was arrested without charges, pending further investigation.

Balsor and Manning appeared in Kentville Provincial Court and were released to appear on January 27.
