The grizzly bear. Most people see images of bears feeding on things like salmon or larger meals, such as a carcass. But for many coastal bears in British Columbia, a large part of their sustenance throughout the year comes from much smaller food sources.
Along the coast, this mama bear and her two cubs are feeding on small clusters of mussels found along the beach at low tide. They rely on these smaller, readily available food sources to help sustain them throughout the year.
