There are some moments in life that change you forever β and being invited to document my very first birth was one of them π€
It was a super early morning, the kind where the world is still quiet and holding its breath. I waited at home, phone close by, getting little updates on how mama was doing and wondering when it would be time to leave. Beforehand, I met up with 'A' for a cozy Starbucks chat, wanting to truly understand her heart, her hopes, and what this day meant to her. Iβm so grateful we had that time β it made stepping into her birth space feel deeply personal and intentional.
When the text finally came at 5:30am, I headed over to her home. The atmosphere was unbelievably calm. Soft light, binaural beats playing, quiet voices, steady breathing. 'A' showed the most incredible strength β grounded, powerful, completely in tune with her body. Watching a woman bring life into the world in her own space, surrounded by peace, was something Iβll never forget.
After little man made his entrance, he did have some difficulties but they were able to stabilize the situation when paramedics arrived.
From stillness, to strength, to fear, to triumph β this birth had it all.
To witness an at-home delivery for my very first birth session was beyond special. It was raw. It was powerful. It was sacred. It reminded me exactly why I love documenting life as it truly unfolds β not just the beauty, but the bravery.
'A', thank you for trusting me with one of the most vulnerable, extraordinary days of your life. What an absolute honor it was to stand quietly in the corner and capture the moment you became mama to another beautiful little boy π€
