Vestige of the Turning Hour

A playground fixture stands frozen in a spectral haze, its form unraveling like an echo of childhood past. The structure, once a vessel of childhood energy, now spins only in echoes, wrapped in a gauzy veil of time’s erosion. The soft blur of movement hints at laughter now silenced, the cold embrace of winter wrapping around an object once brimming with warmth and play. What was tangible becomes spectral, a dance of vanishing impressions swirling against the frostbitten silence.

The Memory Tree

We created this image for a dear friend who had just lost her mum.

The image is like a life story whispered by the wind. The tree stands layered with time, its branches tangled with memories that refuse to fade. Shadows of the past flicker in its bark, as if every moment it has witnessed is still etched into its form. The lines blur — not just visually, but between the present and what came before. Last weekend at the Alberta Day celebrations! It was definitely a smokey day, however we managed to find a nice spot in front of the stage set up at the Legislature Building and enjoyed some wonderful music performed by a local band, unfortunately we weren't able to stay too long but this was definitely a nice treat. They played "New Orleans is Sinking" by The Tragically Hip gotta love that 😃

~Inferno Dreams~
After being on hiatus for a bit, had the urge to brush up on some skills. It's funny how when you just get to creating, you can lose yourself and create! While other times, you kind of stare at a blank canvas, and you get lost in thought instead. Never lose the spark to bring your ideas to life, even if you have to stare at nothing for a little while. Eventually, something will set a blaze inside you, and magic will be made!

~Throw Caution to the Wind~
Hello, pretties! It has been such a long time since we've posted...but we have NEWS to share!
I entered this image in a 5050 challenge put on by , with guest judge (who is a great inspiration to me and I am so thrilled that she took the time to say a few words about my image), and guess what?! I WON! So excited to share this with you all. Here is the artist brief I included with it.

I was so excited when I first learned of this months brief, as it aligns with my 'Why'. My desire to encourage others to express themselves freely and without inhibitions.

I used photoshop to create my stellar environment with stock images of the moon, starry night sky and a nebula or two. I then added a self portrait I took a few weeks back, just waiting for the right moment to create something special. I wanted my image to portray confidence, poise and fearlessness. The waning crescent moon reflects the later years in a woman's life (The Wild Woman Archetype). The vastness of space around her to represent all the possibilities that await us if only we let go of fears and societal stereotypes. And lastly the loose flowing fabric, which feels like freedom to me. As a maturing, curvier woman I have found it challenging to find others like me represented in media and the arts. I want to be apart of something that changes that narrative, by providing a space for Any Body to express themselves creatively. What I want this art work to communicate is that anything is possible and not even the sky is the limit when you 'Throw caution to the Wind'

The Coming of Spring ~ Persephone's Return

I created this image as a challenge for the FB group and also to challenge myself. It is a style I have been wanting to play with for quite sometime but have been less than confident about. That is until now. The show of support from simply creating it has shown me that I need to get out of my head and get creating (a message that has actually presented itself more than once in the last few years - call me stubborn).
I also wanted to take a moment to give a shoot out to another artist who has shown such wonderful talent with the same style of using paintings for the environments in the portraits he creates for his clients . His art has inspired me to finally tinker with this look and to incorporate it into my own art.
We grow everyday and this is just another step in my growth. I am still trying to find my place in this sea of artists and maybe one day I can inspire others to pursue their artistic endeavors.
In the meantime I will play and practice!
