Pay for the lights.

Seriously.

Most resorts in Mexico offer upgrades like string lights, fairy lights, twinkle lights, market lights, and other lighting options for your reception space.

And every single time, they completely transform the atmosphere.

Could you spend hundreds (or thousands) on elaborate centrepieces?

Absolutely.

But your guests will remember how the space felt far more than what sat in the middle of the table.

Want to save money?

Pack small faux florals.
Pack simple table accents.
DIY some of the little details.

But if you have room in the budget for one decor upgrade…

Choose the lights.

The photos are better.
The ambiance is better.
The dance floor feels more magical.
And the entire space instantly feels more luxurious.

I’ve never had a couple regret adding the lights.

But I’ve definitely seen couples wish they had.

Don’t forget to ask your favourite photographer if they travel.

Many photographers offer destination wedding packages where you simply cover travel and accommodations, and they’ll photograph your wedding at no additional package cost (like me! 😉).

Not only can this save you money compared to some resort photography options, but you already know and love their work, you’ve built a relationship before your wedding day, and you’ll have peace of mind knowing exactly what style and quality of images you’re getting.

Unpopular opinion:

The most expensive vendor isn’t always the best one.

I know... some people in my industry are already rolling their eyes.

But after years in weddings, I’ve learned that price doesn’t guarantee experience, professionalism, communication, or passion.

The best vendors aren’t always the ones with the biggest following.
They’re the ones answering your emails, calming your nerves, solving problems before you even know they exist, and showing up for you when it matters most.

A luxury experience isn’t about spending the most money.

It’s about feeling taken care of.

So if you’re planning a wedding, stop shopping based solely on price tags and start looking at value, personality, communication, and trust.

Because your wedding day deserves vendors who care about your marriage more than their Instagram feed.
