Escape was futile. These two-foot-tall critters with fish breath stormed the beach and were taking no prisoners.

A shot from my November trip to Botswana. I really love watching leopards. They are normally in brush, leaves or grass. It's great to see one unencumbered in a tree.

I would guess that a lot of people are taking the day off work today. I think they are missing out. This has been my favourite work day of the year so far! 😊

For those of you who haven't been around bears much, their body language will tell you a lot if you spend much time with them and pay attention to their postures and behaviours.

Going down memory lane as I was backing up some images. This was from a favourite trip to Alaska in 2020. It was a huge risk traveling then and wasn't without some challenges, but we were rewarded. We pretty much had the lodge to ourselves and it was the best year they had for bear cubs in over a decade.

Ox peckers and their animal hosts often form a symbiotic or a "mutually beneficial" relationship. The host, in this case a buffalo allows the birds to ride on them and eat ticks and insects that may not be appreciated by the buffalo. Thus, it's a symbiotic relationship...until the host animal has an injury. The birds love blood so will continually work on the scab, of the injury, keeping the wound open. The relationship between the bird and the host is not always mutually beneficial.

Photo safaris aren't just about observing the wildlife. I have been to Africa over 20 times. I learn more about plants, animals, the ecosystem in general, culture and language every time I go.
