I have been putting this post off for awhile. I am insanely excited for my future, but saying goodbye to something that means so much to me is also insanely difficult.
As some of you may know, I enrolled at MacEwan in 2021 to pursue my Bachelor of Commerce degree. I was accepted early into University of Alberta Law School last year, and I just completed my first year. I scheduled only 4 weddings for this summer, with the knowledge that it would be my last summer doing so.
Jade Lavallee Photography will be closing as of September of this year. I find it impossible to truly express the level of gratitude I have for all of the incredible clients that made the last 15 years so special for me. And I am so honored that you all chose me to capture some of the most precious memories of your lives. I spent over a decade hustling and building, working countless hours at multiple jobs in the pursuit of building something with my name on it that I have become exceptionally proud of.
The pandemic was transformative for me, as it was for so many others. I watched all the work I put into building something successful go up in smoke, overnight. And while I spent a lot of time cursing what had happened to me, when I look back on it now I see how pivotal it was in shaping a somewhat inevitable journey for me. I dreamed of being a lawyer when I was a kid. I didn't expect that I would be finishing law school when I was 37, but I feel that in many ways everything aligned the way it was supposed to.
I spent the last 15 years photographing births, grads, babies, weddings, and families. I have watched women recovering from cancer, assault, and abuse transform right in front of my eyes as they continued or began their healing journeys. I have been the source of countless Save-the-Date, Christmas, and Memorial cards. There is nothing that compares to this job, and I'm not sure there is anything as rewarding as it either.
Client galleries from the past couple of years are still available online. If you haven't yet done so, PLEASE go and download your images and store them in at least two places to keep them safe. If you are looking for a photographer for your future milestones please reach out, I have a list of photographers I am referring my past clients to.
To my clients: you mean the absolute world to me. Truly. I am so grateful to you. Thank you for being the most kind, caring, and unbelievable humans and for filling my life and my job with so much joy and happiness. You made it all worth it.
