Walking on The Moon -The Police

The most photographed spot in the Canadian Rockies. Ok, after all these years I finally get
my camera out to give this magical place my version - Spirit Island in Jasper National Park. Maybe it’s a little different...maybe it’s not. Personally I don’t care. The memory and the meaning of photographing this place at this time in my life means more than anyone can imagine. Look-Imagine-Dream. Make it whatever your dreams may be.

Faithless-Rush

Back in March just as Corona was beginning to wreak havoc, I had a bit of a medical scare. Laying in the ER with tubes shoved in certain body parts where tubes were not meant to be, makes one really reflect. I feel lucky...I’m still here and I guess it wasn’t time for me to “check out” so to speak. Time for reflection. Some “friendships ARE for life” and in the end “none of us get out of here alive “. Life is short! So I decided back in April that I would make a life long dream happen. An epic journey and adventure beginning in the Yukon Territory ending at my sisters house in La Paz Baja Mexico . Dreams of driving the Dempster past the Arctic Circle in Yukon, Sea Kayaking amongst Icebergs in Alaska and wild camping in Denali just to name a few....I have begun the task of saving money to make this happen. When? Maybe 5 maybe 10 years. One way or the other, I will make it happen! Right now I’m looking for the right van that will be my home for the 12-18 month journey. Small steps, but all forward steps... I look forward with anticipation and great excitement! I hope some of you will join me on this journey!

Two main things I learned on my first solo backpacking hike in the Tonquin Valley:
Bring the widest lens you have and bring twice the amount of sh_t tickets! It will really suck if you run out of those!! Don’t ask me how I know!

I had heard about the beauty of the Tonquin Valley...indeed she was. She welcomed me with some sun, a lot of heavy clouds, a tiny bit of rain and wide open arms. Stunning!! The hike to get to Amythest Lake was just as stunning! I must return someday!

It’s been a long time since I have been able to disconnect from the world. I mean really disconnect. No phone, no tv, no wifi, no news, no Covid, no B.S... just me and nature. In fact, I have been so disconnected I’m having trouble reintegrating with day to day stuff. The world is in such a hurry! Sometimes I just don’t get it.

Spirit Island. Not really an Island for most of the year, but it is iconic. First time ever photographing there. I almost flipped the kayak getting there! Managed to keep her upright!🤣
