Happy birthday babe.

I’ve had you for 22 birthdays, and it hasn’t always been easy. But what I’ve learned is that we fit. You are the yin to my yang, the cool to my heat. My counterweight, my compass, my anchor.

We have had some really hard times in the last 22 years but we keep climbing back into each other’s arms and I wouldn’t change it for the world.

At 53 you’re still handsome as hell. Like annoyingly so… but you’re my handsome hubby and I’m keeping you.

Side note: They literally call him Hollywood at work because he’s so damn pretty with a British accent to boot.

You’ve had an amazing year. You went to the Amazon to live with an actual tribe this year! You have exceeded personal and work goals. You show up every day whether you want to or not for our family. You love our kids with the biggest, softest heart.

And you love me, unconditionally, wholeheartedly, even when I don’t make it easy.

Happy birthday, babe. I love you. I’m keeping you for another 22.

P.S. Does anyone know where to get the best carrot cake? Because I absolutely cannot bake. And it’s his favourite.

If you hate peonies & roses, this is not the house for you!

I’ve worked hard for the last 12 years to create our own little oasis, and my favourite flowers are peonies. I am honestly not even sure how many varieties I have now. Roses didn’t used to be a fave but I’ve planted a few that have just gone crazy so they have grown on me.

Anyway. Flower lovers only. There will be an application form to view the house with your gardening expertise. Kidding… kind of. 😁 We can do that right ?

Hoping to have all my ducks in a row to list June 1.

It feels weird to be preparing a home that I adore to sell. I fell I live with it the minute I walked in. There truly is something magical here. The house and the garden… peonies anyone?

Selling to move is hard, really hard. Leaving is going to awful.

The only thing bringing me comfort is knowing we’ll be going somewhere that I’ve loved forever. 💕

What to Look For When Hiring a Commercial Photographer.

A beautiful portfolio is a great starting point. But it's not the whole picture.

When you're hiring a commercial photographer, here's what I'd actually look for.

Consistency across their work. Not just beautiful images in isolation, but a cohesive look and feel that tells you they have a real point of view and the technical skill to execute it reliably.

Good communication and a clear process. Do they ask good questions? Do they seem like someone you'd actually want to work with on a big project?

Versatility. Can they handle product, lifestyle, and editorial within the same shoot, or are they a specialist in only one thing?

And real experience with the type of content you actually need. Amazon product photography is very different from brand lifestyle photography, which is very different from architectural work.

The images here are for One Compass Beauty — a small-batch Canadian skincare brand based in Edmonton. Their hero product, The Concentrate, is a facial oil made with 58 botanicals and clinically proven ingredients like Vitamin C, Bakuchiol, and CoQ10, blended fresh each month in limited quantities. No added fragrance. No fillers. Bottled in protective violet glass.

A brand like this needs photography that can hold two things at once — the scientific precision of 58 intentional ingredients, and the quiet luxury of a ritual. That's a creative brief, not just a product shot list.
The right photographer isn't just talented. They're the right fit for your brand and your process.

Every shoot has its own rhythm. The shoot had several.

We started in the studio with headshots. Shot across multiple days, which means one thing has to be non-negotiable — consistency. Same light setup, same editing, same everything. When someone is scrolling through a website or a campaign, they shouldn't be able to tell that those were shot on different days.

Then we shifted into lifestyle and editorial mode and the whole energy of the shoot changed. More movement, more freedom, more ground to cover — and we covered a lot of it. The brief called for images that felt modern and fun but still showed the product clearly. Vertical, horizontal, every format, every platform.

Then came the studio product shots. Clean backgrounds, controlled light, precise angles. Glasses are one of those products that will absolutely humble you if you're not careful — reflections, lens colour, frame detail — every single shot has to be deliberate. There's no winging it.

Then.. they added new frames and we did it all again :)

That's the job. And honestly, it never gets old. 📷

My career doesn't follow a straight line. It never has.

I'm a photographer and a designer and an art director and sometimes a web developer and occasionally the person who talks a client through a complete brand overhaul at 9pm on a Tuesday. That's not a job description you'll find on any career planning website.

For a long time I thought that was a problem. That I should pick one thing and be that thing. That the variety meant I wasn't serious enough about any of it.

It took me years to realize the variety is the thing. The ability to see a brand from every angle, to shoot it and design it and build it and tell its story across every platform, that's not a lack of focus. That's a different kind of focus.

Your path is allowed to look like yours. Messy and nonlinear and full of things that don't obviously go together. That's not a detour. That's the actual road.

Last Friday I had the privilege of shooting for Bailey Woods of Inked Equine at Still Meadows Ranch. We captured images that tell the story of the services she offers—the hands-on work, the expertise, the way she moves with each horse. We got some gorgeous golden light beauty shots and some action of her riding.

But my favourite images? They're the quiet ones. The in-between moments that show her connection to the horses and theirs to her. That trust, that understanding—it was really beautiful to witness.

I'll be working on her entire brand in the coming weeks—brand design, development, and website—but getting to see the way she works first was invaluable. It gives me a deeper understanding of her story and fuels my process. My goal is always to be the visual storyteller that ties all the elements together into something that's both emotionally compelling and strategically effective for her business.

Sometimes the best way to create a brand is to start by understanding the heart of it. 💕
