Marta Mora Photography www.martamoraphotography.ca Lifestyle photography is a great passion that fuels my life. I love taking the candid approach into my Glamour/Boudoir sessions. YOU!

I love capturing my subjects in natural settings, immersed in life, doing the things they love that makes them unique. This to me is the best of both worlds, combining the preparedness of studio work with the candid nature of lifestyle photography, and turning it into my own expression of art. To me, bo***ir is not about the pose or the sexy lingerie — although that is often a gorgeous add-on — bo

***ir is all about baring one’s soul in order to capture the real beauty. All my sessions are exclusive appointments; I believe that taking the time to connect with my clients and working with them at their own pace and comfort makes all the difference in the world in the final result. For pricing and availability information, email me at [email protected] with your name, what kind of photos you're interested in and contact information. I will get back to you as soon as able!

Every once in a while, an artist comes along whose work makes you stop mid-scroll and think, “wait… this is something special.”

Melina Sterling is a talented singer-songwriter whose creativity is carving out a distinctive voice in Edmonton’s indie scene.

She blends post-grunge grit with alternative folk intimacy. Her work is bold, layered, and carries that kind of emotional depth that sneaks up on you.

Take a listen to her debut EP Letters to my Past Selves, and you’ll see exactly what I mean.

Life has a funny way of giving us exactly what we need, even when it doesn’t always feel that way.
When things are messy or uncertain, it’s tough to see the bigger picture. But this very moment, with all its chaos, is exactly what we’re meant to experience. Sometimes, a little meditation and a few deep breaths are all it takes to find peace with it.
Who would’ve thought that just sitting still might be the key to realizing that life has a way of taking care of things, even when we don’t have it all figured out?

Dance to set your spirit free,
to let go of the clutter that weighs on your mind,
and heal the achy places that long for release.

Dance to feel the rhythm of your breath—
the joyful pulse of your heart,
rising with the beat of life.
The world is calling you to dance.

It’s not the perfection of form that counts,
but the courage to move,
to be seen,
to be raw.
In every step,
with every sway,
you reclaim your power.
Just dance!

“Nature is pleased with simplicity.”
~Isaac Newton

I’ve always had a thing for taking pictures of nothing. Let me clarify—I don’t mean nothing, like empty space. I mean those tiny, often overlooked moments that, to me, are little hidden masterpieces. Nature’s best-kept secrets, just waiting for their close-up.

Of course, every now and then, I’ll find myself sprawled out in a field of grass, camera in hand, and some well-meaning stranger will pop up, puzzled, and ask, “What on earth are you taking pictures of? Isn’t it just grass?!” 😂

But to me, that “grass” is everything. It’s a whole universe of life and potential, a sensory wonderland. And all I can think is, “gee, I really hope my camera and I can do them justice!”

I believe adventure doesn’t need a passport. Sure, maybe I take that a little too literally sometimes. But honestly, who needs a plane ticket when you’ve got a patch of grass and an eye for little treasures?

I dream of every woman embracing her true beauty and every girl learning to love herself before the world tells her how.

This is my purpose: to heal, to teach, to lift, and to remind. I’ve walked through dark times, where lies were whispered and mirrors became battlefields.

I fought the demon of body dysmorphia, its cold grip on my heart, its voice telling me I wasn’t enough. But I rose—from the shadows, from fear—and learned to trust the light within me. I learned my worth isn’t defined by a reflection.

Now, I stand to empower others—to help every woman remember her beauty, no matter the years, the scars, or what the world has said.

We are more than age, more than skin, more than time. We are the stories we carry, the strength in our bones, and the light we choose to share.

This is my mission: to remind every woman, every girl—you are beautiful, you are enough, just as you are.

Sep 2023. American dippers are quirky little songbirds that live around fast-moving mountain streams and rivers. They’re famous for their sweet songs and lively calls that seem to announce, “This is my territory!” John Muir, the famous naturalist, absolutely adored them—and with his magical way with words, he turned this unassuming little guy into an enchanting creature you’d be eager to spot on your next adventure! He wrote:

“He is the mountain streams’ own darling, the humming-bird of blooming waters, loving rocky ripple-slopes and sheets of foam as a bee loves flowers, as a lark loves sunshine and meadows. Among all the mountain birds, none has cheered me so much in my lonely wanderings, —none so unfailingly. For both in winter and summer he sings, sweetly, cheerily, independent alike of sunshine and of love, requiring no other inspiration than the stream on which he dwells. While water sings, so must he, in heat or cold, calm or storm, ever attuning his voice in sure accord; low in the drought of summer and the drought of winter, but never silent.”
~John Muir

Have you ever seen—or better yet, played—an Ultimate frisbee game?

When I was younger, the Chacón brothers introduced me to this whirlwind of a sport, and I had my fair share of wonky fun until an ACL ski injury (thanks, skis!) put an end to my frisbee days.

Officially just called “Ultimate,” it’s a fast-paced, non-contact team sport where the only thing flying faster than the players is the disc. And yes, it’s as cool as it sounds.

Ultimate was born in 1968 in Maplewood, New Jersey, thanks to the genius of Joel Silver. Now, it shares some athletic DNA with other sports but is totally unique in one major way—it’s self-officiating. No referees, not even at the international level! The game is governed by the honor system, with players keeping each other in check with good sportsmanship and fair play.

At the end of their visit (you know, the one I talked about in my last post), I got to catch them in action at the Montreal GM Tournament. And let me tell you, they’re still as savage, ahem, competitive as ever!

A bit over a year ago I got a surprise visit...

The Chacon brothers have had such a big impact on my life it’s hard to put into words just how lovely their visit was.

Carlos, back in my early years as a naturalist tour guide, although always a bit on the blunt side, was more than just a mentor. He challenged me to be better, encouraged me to read, to never stop learning, and to constantly push myself. His tough counsel and drive made me realize there was always more to know, always room to grow.

Then there was Fico—his brother’s opposite, lighthearted, playful, a bit of a jokester really, and honestly quite annoying to me at the time! 😂 Little did I know, he’d end up becoming my best friend AND an incredible naturalist I very much respect and admire.

They both continued their journey as hard-core naturalists while my life took quite a different path. But nearly 30 years later, every time we get together, I still feel that same sense of inspiration and curiosity. I get to see nature through their eyes, and it never fails to leave me in awe. Their influence in my life has been nothing short of transformative. The Chacon brothers truly shaped my journey in ways that still resonate with me today and I am so grateful to call them my friends.

Here’s to the next visit! 🍷

Portrait of a Spruce Grouse at Emerald Lake, Yoho National Park, BC. Casually hanging out right by the path.

“Famous for their absurd tameness around humans—sometimes known as “fool hens”— they may sit motionless while observers pass by just a few feet away, and it may thus go unnoticed.”

Well, you already know that’s exactly what happened, right? 😅

Would it not have been for the keen eye of an experienced naturalist in our party your girl would’ve not seen a darn thing! Thanks Carlos Chacon

Once upon a time an Edmonton photographer killing some time in Montreal…

We were just sitting there my bestie and I, lazily chatting away while we waited for our poutine, when we spotted these guys. Casually strolling down Old Montreal’s lovely cobblestone streets holding all these mannequin heads. The whole scene conjuring wicked Sam Smith vibes! You know his “To Die For” video? 😁

Anyway… first thing out of my mouth “oh, that would’ve been such a cool shot” then as I watched them quickly get out of sight “ugh, my camera is buried in my bag with a dead (blinking) battery”. To which my friend matter-of-factly and a bit too loud for comfort, I might add, responded “well, just DO IT, MAN!” Hah. True friend right there.

It takes me a second to figure this is it. Now or never. So I jump off my seat and start anxiously digging for my camera. And I awkwardly run after them for a good block, chuckling at the thought of that sight! 😂

I’ll leave these here.

Thank y’all kind strangers for being such good sports! Stoked to have managed a few shots.
“You find photographs in so many different ways - from chance encounters, from looking at your negatives, from the way the light hits your pillow in your home, from a sound or a movement that makes you look... It’s whatever draws you in or makes you feel something. Then, the picture is only good if it has a life of its own. Every photo is almost a fiction or a dream. If it’s really good, it’s another form of life.”
