This Red-necked Grebes share the incubation process. This grebe have just switched places with it's mate and is just about to lower itself unto the eggs. I'm assuming that the lighter color egg has recently been laid, and hasn't gone thru the process of been turned over and repositioned.

I heard that racoons were spotted at Whitemud Creek and now I have my own proof. I'm happy how these turned out, because due to the low light, I had to shoot these these at 10,000 ISO.

Last week, this Great Horned owlet fell down from it's nest, which was 50 -60 feet high. Know as branching, Owlets are capable of climbing back up using their beak and talons, but it's not something that they will do right after falling. Dad was high in a tree observing the area, but due to coyotes, and other predators, being on the ground is not a safe place, especially as night is approaching. I can only imagine how scary it must have been for this youngster.

High up in a tree, these young Great Horned Owlets, approximately 3 weeks old, are looking out and probably wondering why people are pointing those strange objects in their direction. Mom is just a few feet away, guarding her youngsters.

I love driving the backroads and this particular day didn't disappoint. Coming across a green barn with two beautiful white horses was extra special.

The purpose of this road trip was to try and photograph Castle Mountain, as the rising sun illuminates it, with the morning golden glow. Located in Banff National Park, and approximately 451 km from Edmonton, the 4.5 hour drive on January 25, 2026, meant a very early departure. Mother nature didn't want to cooperate, as a cloud in front of the mountain peak, blocked the early rays of the rising sun. The clouds moved on, but the desired image wasn't recorded. This was my first time, photographing Castle Mountain from this vantage point and I look forward on revisiting it in the near future.
