A lot of people picture elopements as rushing off to a mountaintop at sunrise!

But sometimes, they look like this šŸ˜šŸ¤Œ

A slow evening in Kananaskis. Getting ready separately. A first look filled with nervous smiles. An easy walk down a tucked-away trail. A quiet lakeside ceremony with the mountains reflected perfectly in the water and the last light of the day painting everything in the softest glow.

No timelines packed to the minute. No pressure to perform. Just the two of them (+ their kiddo and 2 witnesses), soaking in every moment together.

And honestly? That's the beauty of an elopement. It doesn't have to be extreme to be unforgettable. šŸ¤

This feels very much like the kind of day elopements were made for!

Starting before sunrise, hiking through the quiet trails of Lake Louise as the mountains slowly woke up around them. No timeline packed with obligations. No rushing from one thing to the next. Just the two of them chasing an experience theyā€™d remember for the rest of their lives.

After the hike, we made our way to Bow Lake where they exchanged private vows with one of the most incredible backdrops in the Rockies. They shared a ceremony surrounded by the people who matter most, cut cake under the spring sunshine, and celebrated with the newest addition to their little familyā€”Dango šŸ¾

One of my favourite things about elopements is that thereā€™s no right way to do them.

You can hike at sunrise.ā€ØRead your vows beside a glacier-fed lake.ā€ØBring your dog.ā€ØEat cake before lunch.ā€ØInvite a handful of people or no one at all

The best elopement days arenā€™t built around traditionsā€”theyā€™re built around what feels like you!

And honestly? This day felt exactly like them. šŸ¤

The handwritten vows. The guitar brought because music has always been part of your story. The florals inspired by the season you fell in love in. The campervan that feels more like you than any traditional venue ever could šŸ˜

They come from movement.

From slowing down enough to actually feel something.
From letting yourselves interact instead of performing for the camera.

The wind in your hair.

The way they look at you when youā€™re laughing.

Hands reaching for each other without being told to.

Golden light filtering through the trees while the city quiets down around you.

12 years behind the camera and somehow this life still feels a little unreal sometimes šŸ„¹

What started as simply loving photography turned into documenting love stories all over the world. From the mountains in Alberta to the cliffs of Scotland, this job has taken me to places I used to only dream about.

But honestly, the biggest thing photography has given me is people.

The couples who care more about connection than perfection.
ā€ØThe quiet in-between moments.ā€ØThe deep breaths before vows.ā€ØThe ā€œholy s**t this is really our lifeā€ kind of moments.

Thatā€™s what Iā€™m drawn to every single time.

Iā€™ve photographed in rainstorms, snowstorms, on cliff edges, beaches, mountains, and places with absolutely no cell service šŸ˜‚ and after all these years, I still feel so grateful I get to call this my job.

I think a lot of people assume photography is just about taking photos, but for me itā€™s always been about creating a feeling. I want people to look back at their images years from now and remember exactly how it felt to be there šŸ¤
