I had the absolute honor photographing this gorgeous little princess! Please read so we can bring awareness the battle that INAD brings to so many families 💕
These are the words of Willow’s momma Kayce
💫 There is something rare and wondrous about our daughter, Willow. At 4 years old, she is like a wildflower - delicate yet impossibly strong, growing in her own way and on her own terms. Her beauty is not only in her bright grey eyes or her smile, but in the way she exists so fully, so unapologetically, like sunlight breaking through the trees.
She is feisty, and full of spark and determination. There is a will within her that cannot be quieted, a spirit that pushes forward even when the path is steep. Like a small river carving its way through stone, she teaches us daily about resilience, about persistence, about the quiet power of simply continuing on. She knows what she wants, and she meets the world with a strength that both humbles and inspires us.
Her diagnosis of Infantile Neuroaxonal Dystrophy (INAD) has brought a kind of heartbreak a parent should never carry. The weight of knowing her time with us will be shorter than it should be is a grief that constant and heavy. And yet, even in the shadow of that devastation, she brings us light. She fills our days with meaning, reminding us to slow down, to notice, and to cherish - like standing in a forest and suddenly hearing the wind move through every leaf at once.
We often find ourselves wondering how it is that we were chosen to be her family. Because it truly feels that way; that her spirit, fierce and radiant, found its way to us for a reason. She has changed us, softened us, made us more present and more aware of the beauty that exists in fleeting moments. Loving her is both the deepest joy and the greatest ache we have ever known.
Our daughter is not defined by her condition. She is defined by her laughter, her fire, her willfulness, and her extraordinary presence in this world. Like nature itself, she is both gentle and untamed, fragile and enduring. And we will spend every moment we have with her in awe of the life she lives and the love she has brought into ours. 💕
