Composite image of the 2017 Solar Eclipse. I wasn't able to take regular interval captures during the eclipse as I was working, however these are the phases I managed to acquire.

My Solar image testing my filter 1 day prior to eclipse with my setup, wow there's even some Sunspots showing.
I've but 1-2 brief opportunities the day of eclipse and hope I have a few minutes to stop, setup/image around 2:30pm. Weather is another concern. I wish all my friends and followers have an opportunity to view/image safely this astro event!

Going thru my archives I've somehow never uploaded this edit to my FB before so I wish to share it! My process after initial images acquisition, I used DSS software selecting the comet stack option. Basically I manually select the comet core within each image then stack, comet is extracted/repositioned back into image. It provides more comet detail but stars appear trailing.. whereas my other posted image I stacked based on star selection (no trailing, comet appears slight blurry). Followed by an extensive PS edit I was able to pull out a little bit more of tail gas detail too here. This stack/post process was a huge learning curve for me and challenging but very happy of my results.

With a list of comets observable in 2017 like this I really hope to get fully collimated SOON and out hunting/observing/imaging some of these May-Jul especially. It's been way too long since out with my scope. It says a couple of comets should be bright enough to be visible even with binoculars too ie PanSTARRS (C/2015 ER61) & Johnson (C/2015 V2).

Learn everything you need to know about the prospects for comets in 2017, with a half-dozen bright binocular comets and more chalking the sky this year!
