Hello Friends in Victoria!

My name is Heather Shilan. I'm a new Mom and a family photographer in Vernon and the Okanagan.
Family photography is my sweet spot and I am hoping to add
cherry blossoms to my 15 year portfolio.
As spring and orchard blossom season in the Okanagan nears I would love to put in some
practice ahead of time by organizing a few free family photo sessions in Victoria City,
the capital of spring flowers!
In exchange for the sessions I'm asking permission to post the photos on my website
and social media platforms to showcase my work.

I'm offering 5 family photo sessions in Victoria...
free of charge
during Spring break,
March 23 to April 3.
1 hour session
5 digital prints
Do you know a family that might be interested?

I am looking for families that would like photos either under the cherry blossoms
and/or by the seaside. I am also open to photographing expectant mothers and families with
newborns as I hope to also get into this genre soon. (Newborn sessions would be indoors.)

I will be on the Island for 8 to 10 days during Spring break so if family portraits is
something you would like to do at this time of year Please don't hesitate to reach out to me.

Mini sessions are on their way!

I'm so excited to have finally built my 🎄"Winter Wonderland"✨ forest. It looks legit! Accomplishing this while working through teething with my 1 year has been a challenge and weeks in the planning of my mind. The biggest obstacle was to just get outside and actually do it. So, I have built some of my own evergreen trees and strung lights in behind on my "barn wood" feature wall.

This weekend on Sunday I have a set of 6 openings for 20 minute sessions at $175 available. This will be an outdoor session and 🐶🐱🐭pets are welcome.
After that I'll be moving indoors to Little Plum Boutique in Vernon's downtown core.

Indoor sessions start on Thursday, December 1st. Time slot availability is as follows:

It's a bit of a hike, but Rattlesnake Point just south of Vernon is currently one of my favorite places to photograph families. This portrait was taken on a moody evening just before the snow arrived.
I have to say hats off to this determined Mama and her adventurous children for making the climb!

A real moment of a Papa and his precious little girl captured.
It can certainly be a challenge to get children and adults alike to relax enough in front of a camera to unveil their unguarded joy, but one I'm willing to attempt as a family photographer.
I'm not into stale, posed shots. I seek to guide my clients to take a moment, reflect, and engage with each other. I want them to leave with portraits they will hang on their wall and never want to remove.
