Auroras over Algonquin park. After quite a few false starts in the previous weeks with Robert Bailey and Spiider Von Clark, I had a spectacular night at Canisbay Lake. I haven’t processed this yet.

Here's a second shot of the Northern Lights this evening, through the fog. For the photographers, ISO 2500, 6 Seconds, a few adjustments to the basics in Lightroom Classic.

After a few days of chasing Northern Lights, a pay off. While checking one of my aurora apps at 7 this evening, I noticed that the conditions would be perfect within 55 minutes and only last for about 60 minutes. Sandy and I jumped in the truck and headed to a dark little road 25 minutes north of us and when we exited the truck and turned off all of the lights, this is the view that was waiting for us. What may not be visible is all of the fog at ground level so the tress in the skyline seem fuzzy...due to fog. Just above that layer, the lights were gorgeous.

Hoping to see Northern Lights tonight. I drove back roads until I found a field with a Northern sky. I wound up on Bateman Road north of Springbrook Ontario, set up and waited.
Around 9:30, the Northern lights started showing up in the distance, very faintly. I'm glad the camera sensor picks up way more than my eyes can. The fence is lit from the moon behind me.
The shots ranged from 4 to 6 seconds exposure and an ISO range of 2500-3200. Canon R7, TTArtisan 10mm, f2.

Last pic I'll share from my time with Robert Bailey at Deer Rock Lake Conservation area. In this shot, we're looking at the northern end of the Milky Way. It garners much less attention than the eye of the Milky Way seen at the south end but it still has an incredible density of stars. Worth the wait to see. Next time you look at the Milky Way, follow across the sky from one end to the other, you'll be blown away. The light on the right hand side comes from the glow of Northbrook.

3rd pic from Deer Rock Lake. The lingering last minutes of blue hour looking west on the lake. If you look closely you may see two lights of canoe campers at the end of the lake. If you open the pic, you'll see fight lights. and satellite streaks in the darkening sky.

Second Pic from Sept 10 at Deer Rock Lake Conservation area with Robert Bailey. Can you spot the big dipper hovering over the island. Notice how calm the lake was reflecting the stars in the sky.

A great evening at Deer Rock Lake Conservation area, one of the little gems of Quinte Conservation. Spent the evening with my friend Robert Bailey, taking pics, listening to coyote calls, Barred Owls, and beaver slapping their tails on the lake. We were waiting for Northern Lights but were truly grateful for the beautiful night sky. I'll add pics one buy one and comment a wee bit on each.
First sunset, looking from the boat launch to the west. (HDR composite of 5 pics)

Here's the last pic for this evening. Taken from Point Petre, Ontario looking accross Lake Ontario towards Rochester NY tucked beneath the horizon. Our cameras are so limited, how can we capture the full marvel of the Milky Way with such limited means. In this shot, I focused upwards to try to capture as much of the MW I could with just a bit of lake to let us all know it's there. Let me know which of the 3 shots I've posted to day you prefer and why...I would be curious to find out.

Second photo from last night. A landscape view of the Northern lights over Rochester NY taken from Point Petre on the northern shores of Lake Ontario. A laker was sailing through the picture a few Kms off shore. (Canon R7, TTArtisan 10mm lens, ISO 4000, 15 sec, f2.2
