Roll Call! 🪴 Gollum Jade (Crassula Ovata ‘Gollum’) - How cool is this guy? And the name! I absolutely love it! It looks like lil fingers to me. Haha I also read recently that some shop owners have taken to calling this variety Shrek’s Ears and I can easily see why! 🌿

Although the Gollum Jade can be found growing wild in South Africa and Mozambique, growers in cooler regions have been keeping them as houseplants for years! Some like this variety for bonsai. I’ve read they may also produce clusters of small, star-like flowers in winter! So do stick around to see if we get those! 🤞

It’s grown a bit since this photoshoot and also been repotted; so stayed tuned for update posts! 🪴

I’m trying something new! 🌱 I’ve already water-propagated two leaves I’ve taken from my mother’s very mature Rex Begonia Casey Corwin. So I thought I might try a different way. I read recently about pinning a leaf down to the soil and making small cuts on the main veins to induce growth. So here’s my attempt! 🪴 Wish me luck! 🤞

Roll Call! 🪴 Jade Plant (Crassula Ovata) - Also referred to as lucky plant, money plant or money tree; not to be confused with other plants baring the same common names. I picked up a whole slew of Jades a few weeks back; completely unintentional! Which is the best part; I think! Hehe

Native to the KwaZulu-Natal and Eastern Cape provinces of South Africa, and Mozambique; the Jade Plant has become common as a houseplant worldwide due to its low levels of required care.

This beautiful specimen is now sitting pretty in a terra cotta pot with a bunch of new growth!

Blooms! 🌸 - OMG, everybody! I had no idea String of Hearts bloomed; much less blooms like these! These are the funkiest blooms I’ve ever seen and I absolutely LOVE em! What do you think of them? Roll Call:🪴Tiger Jaws (Faucaria Tigrina) - This lil cutie grows in the sweetest little rosettes! It’s called Tiger Jaws or Shark Jaws because of the soft spines that resemble teeth. (They look more like little dragons to me! 🐲 so I’ve actually named this fella Paarthurnax. Hehe)

Endemic to South Africa; this lil guy doesn’t like the cold. So if you live in a cold region like I do; make sure he’s in a warm spot in the house. (I also have grow lights since natural daylight is scarce this time of year.)

I plan to make Roll Call posts for all my plants! 🪴 So give me a follow to keep your eye out for that! (I have over 30 different plants to showcase; only a few shown in my current posts.)

Thanks to who always has such wonderful and exotic plants! (I’ve had several people tell me they’ve never heard of this one! How cool is that!?)
