Silent. Powerful. Effortless.

There’s something magical about watching an owl glide through the forest. With wings designed for near-silent flight and eyes locked on their target, these incredible birds are masters of the night sky.

Not every hunt ends with a meal!

This juvenile bald eagle put on quite the show along the St. John River in New Brunswick, diving in with confidence but coming up empty-handed. Every missed catch is part of the learning process as these young birds develop the skills they'll need to survive and thrive in the wild.

Watching nature's future king of the skies sharpen its hunting abilities is always a reminder that even the best predators have to start somewhere.

Have you ever witnessed a young eagle learning the ropes?

Spring is full of new life, and few sights are more adorable than a red fox kit exploring the world.

Curious, playful, and full of energy, these young foxes spend their days wrestling with siblings, pouncing on anything that moves, and learning the skills they'll need to survive in the wild.
Have you ever been lucky enough to spot red fox kits in the wild?

Every master hunter starts somewhere.

This juvenile bald eagle is learning one of the most important skills for survival—catching its own prey. Every missed attempt is a lesson, and every successful catch builds the confidence and experience needed to thrive in the wild.

Watching these young eagles develop from curious juveniles into powerful predators is a reminder that nature's greatest achievements come through patience, persistence, and practice.

One of the highlights of my spring was having the opportunity to watch biologists band Barred Owl owlets. It was fascinating to see each owlet carefully measured, weighed, and fitted with a band that will help researchers learn more about these incredible birds.

All of this took place under the watchful eye of a very protective mother owl, who never strayed far from her young. Moments like these offer a rare glimpse into the important conservation and research work being done to better understand the wildlife that shares our forests.

A truly unforgettable experience and a reminder of how amazing nature can be when you're lucky enough to witness it up close.

A successful catch can quickly turn into a high-speed aerial chase! 🦅

Along the rivers and lakes of New Brunswick, it's not uncommon to witness bald eagles pursuing one another after a fish is caught. While one eagle does the hard work of fishing, another may try to steal the meal in mid-air, leading to incredible displays of speed, agility, and pure wild drama.

Nature is full of surprises, and few sights are as thrilling as watching these majestic birds battle for a fresh catch against the backdrop of the Canadian wilderness.

Have you ever witnessed bald eagles chasing each other over a fish?

Each spring, one of the most anticipated signs of the changing seasons returns to the St. John River Valley—the majestic osprey. After spending the winter months in warmer climates, these incredible birds of prey make their long journey back to New Brunswick to nest, raise their young, and once again patrol our rivers and lakes in search of fish.

With their impressive wingspan, remarkable fishing skills, and unmistakable calls, ospreys are a true symbol of spring in the Valley.
