A quick mention for Atlantic Canada folks that YFC AutoFest is tomorrow here in Fredericton. This is the third year for the event, and it gets bigger and better every year. I'm a Gold sponsor this year and I'm also sponsoring the "Best JDM" trophy so I am looking forward to seeing everyone!

Guess who's got life mostly under control again and is heading up to Rallye Perce Neige (officiel) - Maniwaki,Quebec? This guy! I'll be doing photos for the Canadian Rally Championship and if you're competing and would like content, please reach out. This year I have something special too. In addition to the normal photo package type thing, I'm working with Le Muraliste and offering large format prints on acrylic. The package will include one large print of your choice, shipping included (in Canada, but if you're elsewhere we can probably work something out). They look awesome and why wouldn't you want something on your garage wall anyway? Hit me up.

Who else is ready for April? My memories are filling up with Rallye Perce Neige (officiel) - Maniwaki,Quebec content right now, as I'd either be on the road there, or already on the stages. I spent some time this afternoon looking through my archives and I think most of these are new, so enjoy, share and tag. I hope everyone in the North American rally community is doing well and I look forward to seeing you all soon. Perce Neige will look quite different this time around!

It's always a pleasure to be invited to speak to photography students at the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design and discuss my own work as an artist. It provides me with the opportunity to look through some of my archives and at expeditions that generated images like these, from Nepal and the Faroe Islands. These memories are especially important to me right now as we look forward to what the year will bring.

Winter rallies are in the air! Yeah, Perce Neige won't be happening next week but at least it's just postponed. Here's another diorama featuring Subaru Motorsports USA lauching their STI over a snowy crest. in some nice morning light. This diorama is based on a real tarmac stage, so maybe someone can guess which one it is?

I wanted to take a moment to wish everyone the very best for the holiday, no matter how you celebrate it and no matter where you are. I am really looking forward to catching up with you all in person very soon.

This is just the coolest thing. Back in the summer I had a small project with Fox Subaru Fredericton and took some photos of the amazing Jen Kay getting some work done. One of the photos has been used in a colouring book about Tradeswomen in New Brunswick. As Jen says, aspire to inspire! Check out the book, and think about it this Christmas if there are people in your life thinking about their future selves.

Just so cool.

So, with Rally of the Tall Pines, Bancroft, ON, sponsored by Lincoln Electric 2021 in the books, here's the next diorama to honour the Canadian Rally Championship event that always has the most unpredictable weather.

I'm pleased with how this one came out. There are a lot of layers in the ground texture in this one, starting with rigid styrofoam to build up features, a coating of plaster of paris to smooth everything out, and then paint, two layers of static grass, some rally features and trees and then snow to seal the deal. It was a fairly quick build, maybe a week and a half this time. Mostly waiting for things to dry. As always, thanks for looking!

Good luck to all of the teams competing at Rally of the Tall Pines, Bancroft, ON, sponsored by Lincoln Electric this weekend. Many great memories there, the weather is always a challenge, but truly one of the best events in North America. 2021 has not quite gone according to plan and while I am not in Bancroft with you all, know that I am there in spirit.

The Fall colours are showing nicely here in New Brunswick, so a road trip down to Spednic Lake Provincial Park was in order. The United States is so close and yet still so far away (that's it on the other side of the lake). Still though, a glorious day for a road trip and it's hard to turn down an excuse to push some cool air through the turbo. New Brunswick / Nouveau-Brunswick Subaru Canada

So, here we are again. I had been thinking of this for a very long time, based on the famous Carrera Panamericana rally that happens in Mexico. When it ran in the 1950s it was considered the most dangerous race in the world. I was originally going to use a 1974 Datsun 260z in this, but wondered about a "what if?" scenario, if Subaru Motorsports USA were to run one of their own cars in a tarmac configuration. At WRC Mexico I had a chance to look at the types of terrain there and so went with burnt grasses, and trees with yellow leaves. All of this is scratch built, and the church itself is made from 1/32" plywood. The stained glass windows in it are see through.

I wanted to light this with natural light, so the sun effect is from me dragging this whole thing into a field near my house at sunset.

There is a lot going on in this and so I'll post a bunch of behind the scenes images over on Instagram for people who are into that sort of thing. Thanks for looking!
