Give me a doggo, oranges and greens, and I’m a happy photographer. 🌞 Travis and I are slowly planning our wedding and things are coming together, so thought I’d post this from Trish and Andrew’s wedding this past fall!

A little passion project. I’ve never really shot live music before, and what better time to try than at the most wholesome east coast “festival”. Trav and I have so many amazing memories from the Blacktop Ball over the years, and always put on the most energetic, positive, rocking live show. Editing in black and white is something I’m slowly coming around to- I find it helps really bring out raw emotion in photos, which is something that live music brings out in people. I’m only posting these 3 months after the fact… 🙃 Now that I’m based in Hali, I can’t WAIT to see more of the east coast music scene!

A beautiful fall wedding for Trish and Andrew. 🍂 There are so many photos where these came from. The past two months have been a LOT, from relocating to Halifax, starting at a new AE location, packing/unpacking/making our new place a home, and then Black Friday/holiday prep in retail is always a wild ride. Now that I’m feeling a little settled, I can share a bit of what I’ve been up to the past few months! 🌞

asked to get some grad photos done last fall, and we were able to get out at peak fall colour time 🌞 We mosied about downtown Fredericton and found some new spots I hadn’t shot in before! Congrats on completing your undergrad, Heather! ♥️ (ps we miss you at AE but hope you’re doing amazing!)

Looking back on the time since Covid began, HOW has so much time passed? I’ve been so hyper focused on my FT job at American Eagle and Aerie that I’ve lost sight of my hobbies, my time with friends and family, and my photography. Finding the balance is hard, especially in retail (IYKYK!). I found myself working on “days off”, spending extra time at the store, and taking on everything myself. 🙇🏼♀️ I’ve learned a lot of lessons of how to truly be a leader, and delegating is a big part of that - it doesn’t mean I’m not a team player, in fact delegating actually helps build up my team and develop their strengths!
I’ve felt a weird disconnect to photography over the past year, and a lot of it had to do with not “having time”, but also… imposter syndrome is REAL fam. With the growth at AEO, I’ve also found I’ve had a lot of personal growth too, and I’VE MISSED TAKING PHOTOS! And I’m good at it. From the planning to the “posing” to the editing, and everything in between, I have truly missed it, and I’ve felt so guilty for not posting.
But I’m here to say - I have openings in the evenings this summer, and I would LOVE to connect and plan some time for sessions. 🌱 I’ve updated my website with pricing, and if you’d like to book with me, I’d love to connect and chat!

Candids are always my favourite photos to edit. Those real laughs, eye twinkles and moments right before kissing.

What better time to dance when it starts raining mid photo shoot?

A late fall session with Jessica and Carter. 🍂♥️ They are the cutest couple and it was a blast doing some fun (and funny) poses, and snapping a whole bunch of candids! (My type of session!) I was so thrilled that asked me to shoot for her again - I had done her high school senior photos and prom photos!

My name is Emily, and I’m an advocate for candid moments, styled shoots, and moody portraits. I play with natural light to create magical moments. The majority of my sessions take place outdoors for this reason; however, indoor spaces with natural light are a lot of fun as well.
Although I have no formal training in photography, but I’ve had a passion for it since I was in high school. I did my undergrad and masters degree in Geology, which built up my work ethic and photoshop skills. I love experimenting with different tones, compositions, and equipment, and have found that my favourite photos take place with just me, my camera, a prime lens, and YOU.
Fulfilling the passion
I love it all.
Interacting with clients. Getting to know new people, and hearing their stories. Making new friends. Collaborating with other creatives. Helping preserve memories that will be looked back on fondly. Editing photos with care and love. Sharing photos that you are in love with, and proud to call your own.
I have experience in graduate, maternity, engagement, social media branding, pet, event, and cosplay photography.
Working together to create magic
I think communication is integral to building a shoot that we are both happy with. If you want help posing, I can do that. If you want candid shots, I’ll be in the wings for natural photos. If you want a styled shoot, I’ll throw out creative ideas. I am open to all creative feedback, and I look forward to working with you!
The best ways to communicate with me are by private message, email, or Instagram direct message. You can also drop me a line on my website (www.emilypalmerphotography.com).
