Well… I took thousands upon thousands of photos in 2025.
I’m so deeply proud of them and can’t wait to share the overwhelming array of captures and stories that made my heart beat faster.
But I’m currently kinda paralyzed by it so I’m going to start by sharing my first cyanotype attempt on handmade paper that I made 10 minutes ago - paper made by my own hands during a collective ritual that has brought me deep joy and friendship this past year. We take turns, sheet by sheet, using our hands, wooden mould & deckle, and sponge. How can something so simple be so life altering?
The paper is delicate and my handling was less so. But I kinda love the rips and wrinkles. I’m working to love my rips and wrinkles too. I also kinda love the accidental gradient from my haphazard chemical application. Maybe I’ll be more careful next time. Maybe I’ll be less.
The second photo demystifies the context. Just my sketchy basement, $15 second-hand laundry sink, and a $50 UV light in a cardboard box (not shown).
This took 15 minutes and made my day.
