If you are looking for a nice fall activity to do with your kids, mark in your calendars to come to Fall Festival this year. This is our second annual fall festival and almost a wrap up to the year. This year we will be hosting it on September 19 and 20th from 10am -4 PM. We will have a little photo areas set up for you to come and take family photos with your own camera or we have a photographer on site who will charge $25 and you will get to choose an image with the option of purchasing more. Our pumpkins will be for sale from our pumpkin patches. Our friend and Florist Pep’s Petals 💐 will be helping us out this day. We are crossing our fingers that the frost stays away until fall festival and you will be able to purchase flowers. No need for appointments this day. Come and enjoy the fall with us

If you have been long anticipating a visit out to our sunflowers, wait no longer. This year's sunflowers are absolutely beautiful!! The rain has done our flowers wonders. If you haven't been out in a few years, this is also your year to come back and visit. Every year we have been trying to bring new elements to our property and you will be in love with the new pumpkin patch we created this year.

Come pick a bouquet or just walk through the flowers.

Here is another beautiful flower that you may want to add into your sunflower bouquets. These are Zinnias and they come in a variety of shapes and colors. Unlike sunflowers that we tend to pick just as they are opening, zinnias need to be picked much later. Your best bet to see if they are ready to be picked is the wiggle test. If you hold your fingers further down the stem and give the flower a wiggle if it feels floppy just leave it to grow a while longer. If it doesn’t flop back and forth she is good to go. Try it when you come and see the difference.

Zinnias like the statice I posted about the other day are also a cut and come again flower so the more you cut the more will come.

Come for sunflowers and find much more. If you think you will just walk away with sunflowers you may but if you want to you can make beautiful bouquets with a variety of other flowers. Meet Statice!! This is one of my favorite flowers to grow. It makes a great filler and can also be dried out beautifully to be enjoyed for years to come. It is a cut and come again flower so just keep cutting and it will keep growing. Statice comes in a variety of beautiful colors. Often people will pair the purple with yellow sunflowers for a show stopping combo.

Our u-pick is now open and there is lots of statice to add to your beautiful bouquets.

My favourite time of year!! Who is with me 🙋‍♀️. I believe I live all year just for sunflower season to start. I think about next year already in November. I fixate on the thought of sunflowers as I plow through mountains of snow in February. I dream of sunflowers in May when the world up here is coming to life. I live for sunflowers!!

Once again we will be opening our doors up for open farm days out here at Sunflower & Swallow. On Saturday Aug 25th and Sunday Aug 16th from 10-4 pop out to come walk through flower, pumpkin patches and maybe pick a few as you go. We will have crafts for kids in the greenhouse as well as small animals they can pet. Let your kids play at the park while you visit our farm store that is filled with local vendors items. Once again we will have florist Pep’s Petals 💐 here helping arrange flowers. There is no cost to come take a stroll through the gardens. You can purchase flowers if you like. Looking forward to your visit.

Welcome to our 2026 sunflower season. We are looking forward to having you out once again and I’m hoping you are delighted at how beautiful our flowers will be this year. It has been a slow start to the year with a wet, cool spring/summer and we do have some flowers opening right now and are happy to have a few people out this week. Having said that if you want a really good experience out in the flowers, I suggest booking in for the weeks of August 25 to September 5. These will be the height of sunflower season for you. We are more than happy to have you come back week after week if you want to start out at the early weeks because we love your visits. This year sunflowers will be some of the nicest you have ever seen out here once they are all in full bloom. I know we have some people eager to come out and you’re more than welcome to come this week. If you haven’t met my friend Chelsea or been to Farm 2 Table on 51 then you should add it to your summer activity list or go meet her at the farmers markets during the summer. She is inspirational and just the loveliest of humans.
