This is my go-to when I need to turn a landscape image into a portrait for a reel cover, or extend the background so it fits nicely in my Instagram feed without getting cropped. (I don’t post or deliver images edited this way - it’s just a helpful tool for covers and formatting) 🤍
Step 1: Rotate the crop box and expand the canvas in Photoshop
Step 2: Make sure Generative Fill is selected in the top toolbar
Step 3: Hit Generate
Step 4: Cycle through the results, or generate again if the first set isn’t the vibe
Should be smooth sailing for clean + simple backgrounds, but not ideal for more complex backdrops or images where people or important details sit near the edges. Good luck!
