A tiny peek into last night’s engagement session with K+T.

The place where he proposed. A cottage that’s been in her family for nearly 100 years. A century of summers, stories and a place where generations have celebrated life’s biggest moments...all leading to this next big chapter for K+T.

Being there just felt like home. 🤍

Captured the sweetest engagement session on Friday with K+T.

Then, completely on a whim, I switched my camera over to video. I came home, pieced together this tiny little film, and I haven’t stopped smiling since.

Sometimes trying something new reminds you why you fell in love with creating in the first place.

We’ll see where this goes. 💛

P+A // 07.11.26

I’ve been trying to write about Saturday for days, but every version feels too small for what it actually felt like.
The wind showed up exactly when it needed to. The rain held off until the ceremony was over. And then, somehow, there was a rainbow.

Maybe it was all coincidence. But it sure didn’t feel like it. 💛

One year ago today, I was on my way to Italy to photograph a multi-day wedding.

At the time, I thought that was the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Looking back now, I couldn’t have been more wrong.

Even before Italy was ever on the table, I had this overwhelming feeling that there was something bigger tied to this wedding. I couldn’t tell you why. I just knew. It felt strangely familiar, like I’d somehow lived it before.

So when they called to tell me they were scrapping their plans to get married in Halifax and moving everything to Italy, I trusted my gut. I told them I still wanted to be the one to capture it. At the time, I thought I was saying yes to Italy. I wasn’t. I was saying yes to H+R.

To being welcomed into their family and their circle. To every conversation, every laugh, every tear, every dance floor moment. To friendships that have continued to grow long after the wedding was over.

Somewhere along the way, that feeling I’d had from the very beginning finally made sense. It was never really about Italy. It was about the people I was about to meet.

And yes...Italy really was every bit as breathtaking as it looks. But knowing H+R now, I understand why that week felt the way it did. Beautiful things seem to happen around them because of who they are. They have this incredible way of making people feel loved and like they’ve always belonged. That’s just who they are.

In fact, they even gave me a nickname (which I’ve since learned is one of their love languages). So for one unforgettable week in Italy...I answered to Gabriella.

I don’t think I’ll ever fully be able to put into words everything I’ve gained from saying yes. I still get emotional thinking about it. The gratitude I have for H+R, and all of their people runs so much deeper than I could ever fit into an Instagram caption.

Going back through these images this week brought me right back there. Somehow it all feels completely real and completely surreal at the same time.

The older I get, the more I realize the greatest gift this career has given me was never the places it’s taken me. It’s the people it’s introduced me to.

H+R, thank you for trusting me with your story. LFG.

Sharing a few favourites from A+S’s wedding in Halifax a few weeks ago.

Looking back, I realized I spent the majority of the first part of my wedding season in Halifax. If you scroll my feed, it’s basically Halifax wedding after Halifax wedding. It was such a fun stretch of the season, and I feel like I’ve gotten to know the city so well. I know which streets catch the best light, where the flowers are blooming, and even what corners work best at different times of day.

Now the season shifts. The remainder of summer and most of fall have me all over the map —from the Valley to the South Shore, New Brunswick and back to the Northumberland Shore. I love this part of the year when every weekend feels like a new adventure.

But back to A+S —

Every single detail was so thoughtfully planned. Ashleigh fully embraced the planning process and brought her vision to life so beautifully. More than anything though, they’re just genuinely kind people, and getting to document a day like this for people like them is what makes this job so rewarding.

Some weddings leave you talking about the details. Others leave you talking about the people.

What stood out most about this day wasn’t a particular moment or a perfectly planned detail. It was how deeply these two love their people. You could feel it in every conversation, every hug, every speech and every intentional choice they made throughout the day.

Long before their wedding arrived, Alexis talked about wanting photos that celebrated the people who mean the most to them. Not because she felt she had to, but because being surrounded by love is something she genuinely values.

And that’s exactly what this day felt like.

A celebration of love. Of friendship. Of showing up for one another. A day that felt incredibly sincere.

What a privilege it was to document this chapter for the sweetest little family. 🤍

Getting to spend an evening with these two in Wolfville felt a little bit like stepping into the early chapters of their story.

We spent the evening wandering around this sweet little town, even stopping by the Library Pub where they had their very first date. It’s those personal touches that make a session feel so uniquely them, and honestly, that’s one of the reasons I love engagement sessions so much.

Of course they’re an opportunity to create beautiful photos, but more than that, they’re a chance to slow down, spend intentional time together, and make memories during a season that can otherwise feel full of planning and logistics. They’re basically my favourite kind of date night.

They’re also one of the most valuable parts of the experience for me as your photographer. It’s where I get to learn who you are together. How you interact when nobody’s paying attention. The little things that make you laugh. The way you naturally gravitate toward one another. Those are the things that help me walk into your wedding day already knowing you, which allows me to tell your story more honestly and intentionally.

It’s exactly why engagement sessions are included in all of my wedding collections. I truly believe they make a difference.

August at Bull Point Estate can’t come soon enough. 🤍
