Worried about having a winter wedding because you don’t want it to be dark for photos?

Not to worry! Some things that your photographer can do to help keep your photos bright are:

📸 Find bright surroundings. Sit you by a window, white surfaces or near lighting.

📸. Utilize white snow since it reflects the sun and creates very bright photos, so having a diffuser on hand can help balance out the light.

📸. Optimize their camera to night time mode.

📸. Edit your photos to brighten them.

As we start to move into the winter months, it can be difficult to find perfect light for wedding photos!

A few tips for creating the perfect light for your wedding photos:

💡 Have a wedding earlier in the day (sunrise pictures, or afternoon golden hour)

💡 Include fun elements into your photos to create light such as sparklers, lanterns or candles.

💡 Find a bright venue (Large windows)

💡 Have a lighter colour palette for your wedding to help light reflect ( light flowers, furniture, table cloths)

Weddings can be very overwhelming for the parties involved but don’t forget to enjoy yourself! Because in the long term, you won’t remember the little things that maybe didnt go as planned but you will remember how you felt on your special day, and how excited you were. Your wedding day is about you and your partner, as long as you’re both happy, no one elses’ opinions matter!

I love how this beautiful bride decided to create a unique wedding look with a bold lip colour! Anyone can pull off this daring look with a few dos and don’ts. 💋💄

✅ Do: Find a lasting product. Find a lipstick that’s transfer proof so your partner doesn’t end up with your lip colour on them!

✖️ Don’t: Wear a colour you don’t feel comfortable in. You want to feel beautiful on your wedding day and a huge part of that has to do with confidence. Don’t feel pressured to try colours you don’t normally wear.

✅ Do: Practice at home. Play with different colours and see which ones look the best with your skin tone and dress.

✖️ Don't: Forget to layer your products. You don’t want your lips to look cracked or dry throughout your day. Use a lip scrub regularly and start hydrating a few weeks before your wedding day. Then think about using chapstick or lip gloss to keep your lips looking primed and perfect!

How handsome is this groom?! 🤗 I love the contrast of the burgundy tie with his navy blue suit, it’s the perfect colour combination for fall. 👔

I find sometimes in weddings, photographers forget to focus on the groom. Having the opportunity to shoot couple photos as well as individual portraits allows for both individuals to feel confident in front of the camera, whether by themselves or together. It also allows them to show their individual personality, and you can see more details of the effort they put towards their look. 👫

One positive that has come out of the pandemic is a lot of people are having smaller weddings. I especially love shooting these types of weddings for a number of reasons.

Pros of a smaller wedding include 👇

💍 There’s more time to spend on the creative side of photography.

💍 The couples feel more relaxed in general and this shows in the photos.

💍 Couples are able to allocate more time for their portraits.

💍 The chill vibe of the day goes really well with my laid back personality.

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving weekend! 🍁 🍂

Thanksgiving is considered one of the worst weekends to get married on because many friends and families will usually have their own Thanksgiving dinners or plans. However, Thanksgiving could be a great weekend to get married because it’s usually a weekend most people will not be working, will be coming home for a couple of days, and it’s one of the last weekends that couples can enjoy the beautiful scenery before winter arrives. The fall colours are just stunning at this time!
