Treasures from a foreign land 🌹
It’s incredible how much being surrounded by greenery can boost our mood and morale. How a pop of colour here and there fires happy hormones through our brains. As mental health week slips behind us, I’d like to s/o to the woman who tirelessly supports my mental health, day in and day out. She knows exactly when to push me, and when to sympathize. She puts everyone’s needs above her own. The moment that this photo was captured, I got to witness her, for the first time in my life, buying something for herself and only for herself. It was the most amazing moment to watch mum beam with joy over something that she knew she deserved.

What I’m trying to say here is, 1. I’m eternally grateful to have such an amazing mother and 2. Work hard, but don’t forget to try reward yourself with something that isn’t attached to another person’s needs/intentions/goals. There is so much to gain over small celebrations of your hard work, whether that work is visible to others, or in your own battles of your mind😊

I think it’s neat to be able to take a photo in a foreign country that reminds you of home. While the seas in Croatia are a deeper blue than Nova Scotia, and the experiences surrounding these lands are different, when I took this picture I had a big smile on my face - in that moment I was reminded that travelling goes as far as your mind allows 😊
