Meet Bob.

Every snake we came across…
was named Bob.

My kids used to laugh when I said it,
but it made them less afraid.

Funny how something feels less dangerous
once you stop seeing it as ‘a threat’
and start seeing it as something alive.

Watched this Great Blue Heron hunt along the water for a while and caught this moment right as it secured its catch.
Not long after, a Red-winged Blackbird decided it had been there long enough. 😅

Asked a few times what kind of bird I was shooting, finally found out it's a Common Tern. Watched this little guy soar through the sky only to be surprised by its hunting and diving abilities to catch fish. Lucky me I caught this shot of the bird leaving the water with a fish in its beak.

Late summer asters feeding the pollinators. I watched this bee move from flower to flower until it came close enough for the shot. 🐝

My kids discovered the heart in this log before I did.
They brought seeds, and the chipmunks came right up to their hands to eat.
Even the chickadees would land on their hands and pick their favorite seeds.
Some of the best moments in life happen when kids connect with nature.
