For years I lived in black.
I told myself it was slimming. That it was chic. That black goes with everything.
What I didn’t realize was that I was basically disappearing.
When you find the colors that actually work WITH your skin tone — your eyes light up, your complexion glows, and there’s this magnetic quality that no all-black outfit ever gave me.
That’s not an exaggeration. That’s color theory.
If you haven’t explored your seasonal palette yet, it’s worth the time. It changed how I show up in photos, in person, and honestly — in how I feel.

Quick demo: same pair of pants, different placement. When I put them at the smallest part of my body — my upper hip — it creates a point of contrast that shapes my silhouette the way I want.

In layman’s terms? Points of contrast are the lines in an image that draw your eye. They frame your body and tell the viewer how to perceive your shape. For me, I want that line at my narrowest spot — not lower, where I carry a little belly.

If you’ve ever looked at photos of yourself and felt like your pants sat on you funny, this is probably why. A lot of women don’t realize there’s actually a solution — it’s all about where the lines of your clothing land on your body.

This is exactly the kind of thing I walk my clients through before a shoot. If you’re prepping for a photoshoot and need help figuring out what outfits actually flatter you, send me a DM. This is part of my method.

Quick & casual edit walkthrough using one of my own portraits (📸 thanks to for snapping this one!). Just a peek at my process — nothing fancy. I’m using as a plugin in to smooth skin while keeping texture intact, then finishing with some AI presets in . Clean, simple headshot edit — not a tutorial, not a masterclass, just me doing my thing. ✨

Photographers have too much ego.

You know the type, the ones who act like they’re the artist, they’re the visionary. They dismiss your ideas. They override your vision. They make your shoot about their portfolio instead of you. It’s giving cookie-cutter. And honestly? It’s a waste of your money and your shoot.
Hard pass.

Here’s what I actually believe: if you want people to love you, they have to know you. And I can’t help people know you if I’m busy making the shoot about me. Your shoot should feel like you — your story, your taste, your references, the version of yourself you’ve been trying to put into the world.

That’s the whole job. Not pushing my vision down your throat. Not making everyone look the same. Pulling you out of you — and making it look incredible.

Bring your mood board. Send the screenshots. Tell me the half-formed idea you’re scared to say out loud. That’s the shoot I want to make with you.

Have you ever felt steamrolled by a photographer? Or are you a photographer who’s over the ego too? 👇

Here’s to the ones who lace up their boots before the sun’s up.
Drink their coffee black.
Get their hands dirty.
Build the things the rest of us walk on, drive over, and live in.
These some of the staff of — and they’re a piece of what makes Hamilton, HAMILTON. This city was built on steel. It still is a little bit.
One day I’m on a film set with a celebrity. The next day I’m in a steel mill with guys who’ve been showing up to the same yard for years. And honestly? I’m equally grateful for both.
There’s something I love about photographing tradespeople. They don’t posture. They don’t perform. They show up as exactly who they are — and that authenticity is the easiest thing in the world to capture when it’s REAL.

Lawyer photos are usually… buttoned up. 👔
Navy suits. Grey backdrops. Arms crossed. Stern faces. Trust us, we’re very serious.
But this firm wanted something different. They wanted to show the HUMANS behind the legal advice and doesn’t take themselves too seriously.
So we threw paper in the air. The dog chases a tennis ball. And I captured the controlled chaos. 📸
Because here’s the truth: people hire HUMANS, not firms.
And these are the kind of images that make someone stop scrolling and go “wait — THIS is a law firm? I want to work with THEM.”
Shot at in Hamilton. 🤍

Before I get into colour theory and seasonal palettes let’s go back to the foundation.

Confidence is the base. Everything else is decoration.
When I pose someone, I start from the feet up. Because if the foundation’s wobbly, the whole pose is wobbly.
Same with confidence:
→ I wasn’t born with it
→ I built it
→ I listen to affirmations
→ I write my own
→ I’m teaching my kids to do the same
The muscle you use to be confident in front of a camera is the same muscle you use to advocate for yourself in real life.
It doesn’t matter when you start. It matters that you do. 💪
That’s why I wrote the Confidence Code. 10 pillars. Free. Link in bio.
If you grab it — tell me what hits.

2 hours. 3 locations. 5 looks. 📸
That’s what a branding shoot with me looks like.
Studio ➡️ Her favourite café ☕ ➡️ A local park 🌿
One session of hair + makeup. Five outfit changes. Three completely different moods — polished editorial, real lifestyle, and fresh outdoor energy.
She walked away with months of content across every channel: website, LinkedIn, Instagram, email, ads. From ONE morning.
THIS is the ROI of a well-planned branding shoot. Not a headshot upgrade. A full visual library that does the heavy lifting for your marketing for the rest of the year. 🤍
