Mr. Bickles The Squirrel

Mr. Bickles The Squirrel Mr. Bickles lives in a woodland habitat and shares some of his time entertaining us!

I am still having problems with my vision - working on the computer is very difficult and the phone even worse. Hopefully before too long it will improve and I can resume normal activities!
I can't see your comments properly so that will have to wait a while.
All the squirrels are fine as far as I can see. I have seen Mr. Bickles a few times and he seems to be doing well. Katie shows up when I see her. Evie I think is either expecting babies or has had some - can't tell!! She's been very cheeky coming to take nuts from me when I go out. Iris was storing nuts in Ken's house so I think she may have moved there. Daisy and Kevin show up often.
Will get back to taking photos when I can!
Hope you are all doing well out there!

Sorry there have been no posts. I still can’t see very well and can’t see the comments well enough to respond yet. Getting better so shouldn’t be too long.
The weather has improved and I think I have seen all the squirrels over the past couple of days though still finding it difficult to see who is who - particularly the girls! Have definitely seen Mr. Bickles, Ken and Kevin!
See you all soon.

Everyone seemed to get out of order today. I saw Daisy and Kevin first - they were running back and forth across the driveway - so they got fed first! There was a bit of a fight but nothing too serious.
Ken came to his table but only very briefly and then disappeared off into the bush. There wasn't time to get much in the way of pictures sadly.
Iris was by Mr. Bickles table - it was good to see her as it's been a couple of days. She took the nuts from his table back into the bush and not to her usual spot - so thinking she has moved house. She came and asked for a peanut and got one!
Mr. Bickles was so busy running around after Iris that he too was difficult for pictures.
I saw Evie very briefly when I went to feed the horses - I waited by her table and then saw her further around by the end of the bush so I went over there - but of course she had gone back to her regular spot and was just leaving when I got back! I saw her later - she was over where Katie lives and came to Katie's table - they make life very confusing.
I didn't see anything of Katie but I suppose if she has a new neighbour then her life will be temporarily disorganized!
I won't be posting for a few days as I am having cataract surgery tomorrow. It shouldn't be too long before I am back to normal!
Catch up with you all soon.

Evie was ready for breakfast. She ran up the trunk which leads to her table and had a quick look to see if there were any extra treats. I had put two peanuts in the hole and she came back for them later.
Ken came to the little house and then was busy with the other tables. I didn't see him go over to Mr. Bickles' table this morning so he must have been busy with what I had left him in other places.
Katie came to the spruce tree. She spent some time quite high up eating something - probably buds.. whatever it was, she enjoyed it. She was there for quite a long time but I suppose that is because it is quite a way from home so she stays until she has finished rather than dash back and forth!
Mr. Bickles came but not for long - I'm not quite sure what he was doing other than running around - probably waiting for Ken!
There was no sign of Iris - but the nest material from her nest in that huge crack in a bent tree was on the ground. I think she must have done a clean out and has moved to another nest. They like to give their nests a break from time to time - it must cut down on disease etc., and of course always nice to start afresh!
Finally saw Daisy which was great - so pleased to see her. She didn't show up right away so I went and fed Kevin and came back later. He was waiting by Daisy's table and ready to grab nuts right away and take them home. Although I saw quite a bit of him he was always running in one direction or another - so not very good for pictures!
It was a lovely day - up to 20C which was amazing and much appreciated after all the cold weather. Hope it is nice again tomorrow and I can spend a bit more time outside.

Evie came this morning. It was quite nice out - sunny and not windy for a change. She came to her table in the bush but didn't stay for very long. I hoped she would come back and waited for a while - but she didn't. I did see her again in the bush but she seemed to be busy with other things!
No sign of Ken - it was very quiet in his area - luckily he showed up at Mr. Bickles' table so I was glad to see him. He was in a rush to try and grab as much as he could before Mr. Bickles intercepted him!
No sign of Iris and nothing of Daisy - I wondered if they were together somewhere. It was strange not seeing either of them - hoping I see them tomorrow.
Kevin was up to his usual tricks - running back and forth across the driveway and spending a bit of time in the trees where Iris usually sits!
Katie came to the spruce tree - although this is a further for her to travel, she probably thinks it's worth the effort to get away from Kevin!
The light was very bright except for when I took photos of Evie - so it was a bit difficult. Hoping for better things tomorrow.

Evie was in the bush this morning and came for something to eat. Was very pleased to see her.
The next very exciting news is that I saw Katie - she came over to the spruce tree this morning and it looks like she has had her babies - I presume in the last day or so. I guess that accounts for why I haven't been seeing her. She looked very well! Now we have to wait for 6/7 weeks until we see them.
Ken came to his table and of course took the time to go and raid Mr. Bickles' table before finishing off his own. He is starting to shed and looks pretty scruffy - but he should look better in a month or so.
Mr. Bickles was around but I didn't see much of him. Iris was chasing him around and he was so distracted by her antics it was difficult to get pictures.
Iris did come to her table but only briefly - she felt she had her work cut out for her chasing Mr. Bickles!
Daisy was at her table on the driveway - but she was spending more time in the bush. Kevin took advantage of the situation and came over to steal some nuts - Daisy appeared not to notice.
I am thinking both Daisy and Evie will have babies. I doubt that Iris will as she was a late summer baby last year - she may have some this fall.

Daisy and Kevin were playing around when I was on my way to feed the horses - so I stopped and grabbed a few pictures, just in case they were to disappear into the bush when they were wanted later!!
No sign of Evie - she didn't come to the fence and didn't come to her table in the bush. I did go back later on but still no sign of her. Although it was sunny there was an icy breeze so I think perhaps she decided to stay wherever she was and try to keep warm!
Ken came to the spruce tree and then visited his other tables. He must have been very fast as it wasn't long until he showed up on Mr. Bickles' table!!
Mr. Bickles came and of course so did Iris - so there was trouble there! Mr. Bickles had his work cut out for him trying to keep Ken away from one table and Iris from another. None of them were willing to hang around for very long - I guess they didn't approve of the weather.
When I had finished feeding everyone, I went to look for Kevin and Daisy and they soon came.
Didn't see Katie and didn't hear her either. She has moved further down the bush to the bottom of the yard so maybe she thinks it's a bit far to come on a cold morning. Do hope she moves back a bit closer when she has babies - shouldn't be too long now.
It is snowing tonight but all is not lost as they are saying it will be +20C in a few days!

Evie didn't come to the fence this morning so I went down to her table in the bush - she soon arrived there. The snowbanks were frozen this morning so it was very much easier to get there. She didn't stay for very long but seemed pleased with everything I had brought for her.
Ken came to the spruce tree - Daisy had also come over and was at the front of the house - then she spotted Ken and they chased one another around for quite a while - I think eventually Ken made her go home! He then found the time to go to the various tables he uses. I did see him down at the spruce tree again this evening but I don't think anyone came to disturb him!
Mr. Bickles came to his table as of course did Iris - and there was some trouble between them but Mr. Bickles did get a good amount of time on his table.
Iris went to her own table which was nice. It's quite difficult to get there due to a very low branch and still quite a lot of snow - I think I must have been a limbo dancer in a previous life!!
By the time I got to Daisy's place she was back there - she's all over the place at the moment! Kevin came to his table and then the chasing started between the two of them. I did notice him sneak onto her table when he thought she wasn't looking - as if he doesn't have enough tables on his side of the driveway!!
It was pretty cold today and we have had a few more inches of snow - hopefully that will go in the next few days. Today was quite a bit nicer than yesterday which was horrible!!

A pretty nice day today. It was cloudy this morning and sunny later. A lot of the snow has gone in the yard but still lots in the bush.
Evie came to the fence which was great as it would have been difficult to get to her table in the bush. She seemed interested in the wheelbarrow and then I guess she noticed all the mud and thought that it might not be too much fun to get involved with that!!
Ken came to Buster's House and then went to the table at the back of the house. Mr. Bickles came over and they took off running into the trees - taking it in turns to chase one another. Later on Ken came to Mr. Bickles table and stole some nuts.
Mr. Bickles came to the table in the bush and was soon joined by Iris. He was pretty annoyed to see her - she is just so sneaky!! He took off into the nest above the table and watched her from the pop hole - she came to the table and warned him not to come down while she was eating!
Daisy was up the driveway. Kevin came and managed to grab some food from the table there - while he was away hiding the nuts, Daisy went over there and helped herself.
I didn't see anything of Katie but she could be in a clump of trees right at the end of the yard. Kevin of course went to her table to see what he could find. I left a couple of peanuts on a branch for Katie and hope that she would come and get them later.
I won't be posting tomorrow as I am off to town.
Take care everyone and see you on Friday.

Didn't see very many squirrels today. Daisy was on the deck this morning and then went to the spruce tree. By the time I had fed everyone else she was back home and busy clearing up there!
I didn't see Evie - goodness knows where she had gone. I walked down to her table in the bush when she didn't come to the front - it was very difficult to get down there as the snow has thawed somewhat and is very deep for climbing over the snow banks. I waited a while for her but she didn't come . I didn't go back because of the snow.
Ken was in the trees and was busy playing chase with Mr. Bickles. They went back and forth through the trees for the longest time. I hoped I would catch up with Ken later on. I did see him again but he was just leaving Mr. Bickles' table and I wasn't fast enough for a picture.
Mr. Bickles came and was just getting settled when Iris came over for a visit. The next thing was they were chasing around after one another. Mr. Bickles got a few minutes to himself on the table and then Iris took over.
Kevin came to his table but seemed very busy and distracted he was so fast it was difficult to get pictures.
So, today no sign of Evie, Tansy, Ivy or Katie. I haven't seen anything of Tansy for a while and certainly more than a few days for Ivy. Wondering if perhaps they could have moved elsewhere - it is certainly a little overcrowded at the moment and they may have been thinking that it would be too much of a zoo when the babies arrive - I guess time will tell. After last winter Ivy went missing for a few months and then showed up again later.

Still a bit difficult getting around but better than yesterday. Much better day squirrel wise - I saw Evie when I went down to the pasture - she was on the roof of the shelter. I was going to take a photo of her up there but the camera wouldn't work. Came back to the house and got my other camera - went back down and of course she had disappeared! I decided when I had finished work down there that I would try and get to her table in the bush - glad I did as she showed up there very quickly. Luckily got my main camera sorted out later. It was good seeing Evie as I hadn't seen her for a few days and was getting worried about her.
Ken came to the spruce tree which was nice then he went to his other places. A bit later he showed up at Mr. Bickles' table - he's a cheeky monkey.
Mr. Bickles came to Tansy's table - he was chattering a lot so I knew someone else must have been around. Iris wasn't around again when I got there but I went back after a while and saw her - another relief! She must be travelling further afield for whatever reason - maybe looking for different accommodation. She seemed fine anyway.
Daisy came to Ivy's table and then grabbed the food on the snow. Kevin came and took his food and then of course followed me down to Katie's place. He stole some of her food and I hope she came there a bit later and managed to get some for herself. While Kevin was away I walked further down the bush and could hear Katie right at the far end. I put a couple of peanuts on a branch and after a minute or two she came and grabbed one of them. I wasn't quick enough to get a picture and she soon dashed off as Kevin was in hot pursuit!! He came very close to where the second peanut was located but didn't see it and ran back home.... so hopefully Katie would get that too. It was good to see her as she was another one I was concerned about.
So, the only two I didn't see today were Tansy and Ivy. Do hope they are okay and that I see them soon.
