This impressionist style photograph is another image from my "Water's Edge" exhibition at Bright & Brine Gallery, Moncton, NB.. It is a reflection of New Brunswick's fall colours on still water in morning light. Now, I did something I have never did before with this image ... I turned it upside down so it would appear to be strait up like a painting. It reminds me of the Tom Thomson paintings exhibit from the Sobeys collection that was on display at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery in Fredericton last summer. Tom Tomson was on of the most renowned Canadian Painters in the famous "Group of Seven". I titled this image "Refection Tom Thomson" in respect of him and his influences on me.

The print is "16"x20" signed and numbered to an edition of 5 prints only. For info and price: contact Bright & Brine Gallery ( [email protected] ) or myself ( [email protected] )

On March 4th the Moncton Art Gallery - Bright & Brine opened a new exhibit of landscape photographs by myself and new paintings by another Hampton, NB artist Amber Young. I was in Mexico and could not attend our exhibition opening. I made up for it today by giving an Artist Talk at the gallery and it went very well.
Here in this first photograph I am with dear friends Andre Gauvin and Susan Chalmers-Gauvin from Grand-Digue, NB followed by a few images of my photographs beautifully hung on the walls by the gallery manager Kathryn Basham. On April 06 Amber will be giving her artist talk. I plan on being there!

On our first evening dinning-out in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico I could not ignore the good lighting on our excellent chef. Here she is using stainless steel chop-sticks to carefully place small food items as a final touch on the dinner plates before they are served to her clients.

Last week as a finale for our workshop students we introduced them to a spectacle that happens every first Friday of March in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Indigenous dancers come from all over the state. There must be at least 200 participating. They dance and drum all day long in front of the famous pink Parroquia church. As you can see from my pictures all ages of Indigenous Peoples participate. Their regalia is so authentic, right down to the seed pods wrapped around their ankles that sound like maracas while dancing. - Jamie Wilson www.sanmiguelphotoworkshops.com

Last view of of the famous San Miguel church from our upper deck before we leave tomorrow back to New Brunswick, Canada. It's been a lovely workshop here and a week to relax with friends before returning home. - Jamie

When taking this picture I deliberately exposed for the darker areas knowing that I would blow-out the highlights. This worked perfectly to show what I wanted ... details in the tree leaves and the person sitting on the park bench.

The 10 foot tall puppets called Mojigangas that are famous for walking around downtown San Miguel de Allende also keep and eye on what the people are up to, like this lady in this photo. - James Wilson sanmiguelphotoworkshops.com

Sometimes when inspired to do so I like to look for geographic abstracts mostly on architectural details. These 2 shots I took in our rented Casa in San Miguel, Mexico where we hosted our photo workshop last week. I have always said that Mexicans are not afraid of colour and in this case I took advantage of this fact..
