Well, I've been putting off making this announcement but it's time to say that I'm closing up Bijou Bee Photography. I want to thank all the amazing people over the years who handed their brand new babies to me and trusted me to care for them and keep them safe. It has been a joy and an honour. ❤️

Some sessions are just a little closer to the heart than others, and last night's session was one of those. This beautiful soul is the wonderful teacher that ushered both of my boys into full time "big kid" school, and made starting Grade 1 a breeze, not just for the kids, but for this mom who was so nervous about letting her babies start a whole new phase of life where I couldn't be there all the time. And when Covid hit halfway through my youngest's Grade 1 year, she not only helped make the transition as fun for them as she could, but when he went back to in person school in Grade 2, she made magic happen and became a Grade 2 teacher so she could teach all those same kids again, and finish out the full year that they'd been denied. More than just their teacher (although that's a pretty special and important role to play), she's someone that will always be special to them, and my oldest kiddo was excited to come assist me last night just to get to see her.

Now I get to watch her as she prepares for a new role, and I know that she's going to be the most amazing mom - Mrs. Leighton, I can't wait to meet your little one. ❤️

Almost exactly a year ago, I was contacted by an amazingly talented High River knitter, Carol Balogh, who was having her first book of knitting designs published, and needed photos for the book. If you've worked with me before, you know that I love to knit and I knit all of the newborn and baby outfits and hats and many of the knitted wraps I use in my sessions, so I was excited to hear about this project and jumped at the opportunity! A month later, over 2 evenings, I had photographed around 20 knit designs on 3 models (Nicola Laboucane , Jessica Gabriel, and Carol Thompson who also was the creative genius who styled every single outfit in the book) and I was proud and excited to present those images to Carol for her book.

Now, I'm even more excited to say that the book has been published and Carol will be at the High River Museum on June 20 from 2-5pm for a book signing and meet the author and I'm happy to help spread the world to any local knitters who would like to support one of their own! I didn't realize how badly I'd neglected this page until I was talking to my mom today, and she asked me if I was still doing any sessions - oops! So I figured I should share something from the super adorable cake smash I did today with Kinsley. I've had the pleasure of seeing Kinsley from bump to birthday, and she absolutely nailed her birthday session today!

Aren't birthdays one-derful? Today Callie got to try cake for the very first time. It's always interesting to see how these first tastes go because some babies have a really strong aversion to the flavour, but Callie definitely fell into the pro-cake camp - there was no doubt that she highly approved!

Holy cow, where did the summer go???? It's definitely been a minute since I last posted, oops! But anyway... today I got to do one of my favourite things - I got to see one of my newborns again; not a tiny baby anymore, she's now a gorgeous, smiley baby girl who enjoys a good game of peek-a-boo! She thought I was a bit weird a few times, but we got along great, and I'm already looking forward to seeing her again when her first birthday rolls around! ❤️
