I laugh alongside the couple and the guests: I like to listen to the speeches while I watch and photograph. There are almost always some amazingly funny speeches on wedding day. I find so much fun in capturing the reactions. Be sure to do your homework if you plan to speak at a wedding. Not to place undue pressure, but a well rehearsed speech does not go unnoticed!

I LOVE the magic of the first dance on wedding day! I find myself smiling when I edit - I am always particularly fond of noticing the expressions on the guests' faces in the background: love, admiration + genuine happiness for the dancing couple. Throw in a background light + a little iPhone reflection....and voila! Magic.

I so ADORE capturing genuine moments on wedding day; laughter and true joy abound. While the couple remains of paramount importance, the guests and wedding party are so integral to the day, and worthy of watching from behind the camera. As the day is so busy for the newlyweds, many happy moments (such as these), would go unnoticed by the couple - if not for the photographic evidence.

It's Maple Season! (yay!) I have made so many images of maple season over the years, and I never tire of it. Inspired years ago, initially by a commercial shoot, I have yet to see a season pass where I don't make a few token images. Growing up in Huntsville, I remember going to boils many a spring....from a cast iron pot hitched to a teepee over a fire, to the sophisticated three compartment boiler, the results are always liquid gold.
