When she told me she was moving to Halifax, I pouted and said “no. You’re going to meet your own McDreamy - we watched a lot of greys - and you’re going to get married and have babies and never come back.” Sorry everyone - I manifested this for her.
For the wedding of my “little sister” (ok we are cousins but I’m an only child and she’s a good stand-in sister right ?) we knew we wanted to do the cake. A slight logistical nightmare considering the almost 4000kms between us.
We pivoted to a cookie cake (Hillary has had cookies cakes for her birthday since before they were cool), and now we could at least attempt to bake ahead and bring with us. If we had to make a couple more replacement layers day before, so be it. brennon packed the heck out of them. Made through security without a question and only an intrigued eyebrow raise and “are those giant cookies?” from the flight team.
The staff was accommodating and entertaining as Princess P and I added the florals before everyone else arrived the day-of.
We pre-cut the slice that M+H cut during the cutting - note the satisfaction on his face (and imagine it on mine) when it went through without sending the cake into a smushed up mess.
His “that’s good” smile and nod at the end hits me in the feels. In Mike I truly feel I’ve gained a brother.
It was such an honour for you guys to trust me with your cake, using the recipes of our grandmothers we’d lost earlier in the year.
This is truly my biggest, most special cake accomplishment.
Hill, you’re so bougie.
