hello 𝟚𝟘𝟚𝟝 // lots of new faces around here so I thought I would show mine 👋

I am Melissa: photographer, psych nerd, and crochet fanatic. I am a mother of three kids - Mae is 17, Rhyer is 14, and Finnley is 8. I am in my third year of Counselling Psychology degree and have slowed things down on the photography side in order to focus more on school and family. While I am still taking on bookings, I have decided to take on less of them and prioritize the wonderful humans that I DO get a chance to connect with.

I cannot say enough good things about this venue. Their staff is next level and always so sweet and accommodating 🫶 As a vendor, we love a good venue!

fam•jam // I am slooooowly chipping away at summer galleries and I feel a little excited and sad when I see the leaves already starting to change. I am a fall girly, don’t get me wrong. But I love the longs days, wildflowers, and pool days that summer brings.

As usual, I am oh-so-grateful for your patience during this season. I am in week two of classes, with a placement pending (like a mini internship). Between in class learning, readings, editing, and weddings - I am tiiiired. Grateful, but tired. I have some galleries going out in the next two days (woo!)

If you need ANYTHING, or if I don’t respond to an email/text, please reach out. I promise, I don’t mind! I don’t ever want you guys to feel forgotten. But sometimes things get missed or misplaced and I appreciate when you check in 🫶

life update//

As a business owner, I am always grateful for the opportunity to meet new people, capture the most intimate and memorable moments of a person’s life, and create magic and memories for them. I love the connections I make with you all, and the lasting lifetime friendships that come with it.

Grateful is an understatement.

I started this journey five years ago, and since then I have watched this little project blossom into something more than I could have ever imagined. I have shot well over 100 weddings, met countless new friends 🫶, and travelled the world because of this passion project.

But if I’m being honest, running a business has been difficult. Finding a balance between life and business has been quite hard, especially as a mother.

Few people have been privy to the intimate details of our lives, and I won’t share too much information because it’s not my story to share but Finn’s dad is sick and it has taken a toll on our Finny. Life is short and we need to make the most of the time we have.

Giving my business the attention it needs to thrive and the attention my clients need to feel safe/validated/well taken care of vs giving my kids the attention they need to feel safe/loved/validated/taken care of is a choice I’m making on the daily.

And that is not fair to either if I’m only giving half of myself to them. Clients deserve my full attention, but so do my kids. And right now, Finn needs way more attention than I am able to provide - to anyone.

I have decided take on fewer bookings and return to school to finish my degree for. Where things go beyond that, I don’t know. I guess I’ll just follow by heart - it hasn’t been wrong yet.

➵ turnaround for weddings is about 10-12 weeks, and 2-3 weeks for regular session galleries
➵ my fall availability is listed on the last slide (if you absolutely need something outside of those dates, shoot me a message and I will see what we can do!)
➵ if you have a certificate that is expiring, please reach out to book that since my availability is pretty limited
➵ yes, I will be doing one day of Christmas Minis but the date and location are TBD
