Berg Lake reservations open today 🎉

We did this trail in 4 days (3 nights) last summer and it was perfect. Our ideal itenerary would be to spend the first night at whitehorne and then book 2 nights at Berg or Marmot. This breaks up the elevation gain on your first day & spending 2 nights at the same campground for nights 2 and 3 is way more relaxing than packing up and moving every day.

With this itinerary, day 3 can be a rest day, a beach day or you can check out some of the amazing day hikes on the trail. If we were going again this year, we’d be crossing snowbird pass off the bucket list, but i guess we’ll have to wait for that one. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Guess we’ll have to find another epic backpacking trail to do this summer.

I’m not kidding.

I debated running up the fire road when the shuttles were closed in 2021. We tried for permits in 2022, 2023 & 2024. We debated hiking up the logging road every time we drove by so our dogs could come with…

Then in January, we got permits. Permits that fit perfectly into our schedule & that coincided with larch season. Permits that we’ve been thinking about for 9 long months just waiting for our turn.

And somehow, we hit the perfect weather window.
