Moving to the Canadian Rockies in summer of 2003 for a summer job has turned into many years. I fell in love with the mountains and wildlife and try to spent as much time outside as possible.

I came across this beautiful bull moose a few days ago - he was just shedding the velvet from his antlers. His newly exposed antlers were still bright red, with pieces of velvet hanging from them.
This transformation happens over only a short period in early fall, as the antlers finish growing and harden in preparation for the rut.
It was fascinating to witness such a brief stage in a bull moose‘s yearly cycle 😊

What a beautiful boy he is! 🫎❤️
