A few times a year I remember that the month of May marks the anniversary of a monumental change in my life.
I've spent a weird amount of time doing the math. How much longer until I've been here for 10 years? (Yes, it's simple math. That isn't the point. The point is I've done this calculation a weird amount of times.)
Then, May roles around and it passes by unnoticed.
It's been 11 years.
This photo was my first mountain experience. I remember it like it was yesterday. I remember feeling absolutely awe struck and intimidated. I remeber pulling over at Boston pizza in Golden and crying on the phone to my mom. I was convinced this prairie girl could not handle driving the mountains.
(If only she could see the wild roads I would learn to drive on.)
I remember spending my last 200.00 on an overpriced hotel room in Kelowna.
I remember driving down a logging road with a knife in my bra hoping I'd eventually figure out where I was going.
Oh yeah, I was on this wild adventure because I found a job on Craigslist at a members only fishing lodge. It had next to zero info about it online. It was only 40 minutes in the middle of absolutely nowhere. Seemed legit.
Eventually I my sh*tty little car and I pulled up to this rickety old lodge.
And just like that, everything changed.
