I’m still a little emotional writing this, but I’m incredibly honoured to share that I won Gold for Best Photographer in 🤍

To every person who voted, shared my work, trusted me with your stories, or has supported me from afar, thank you. Truly. I would not be here without the love and encouragement from my friends, family, clients, and community.

Photography has never been just a job to me. It’s been a way of understanding people, emotions, intimacy, beauty, identity, and the power of being seen. A way of turning feeling into something tangible. To have that work seen and appreciated by my own city means more than I can put into words.

I am endlessly grateful.

Today, I wanted to take self portraits because I hadn’t in a while. But my heart wasn’t in it, not truly. I was feeling uncomfortable in my body, bloated from my c*cle and Easter treats, and just not in a sensual space. So I told myself the things I tell other women. That no one sees what you see. That the camera doesn’t pick up 5lbs of bloating. That the culmination of presence, lighting, pose, and mood is more important. I may have taken less than a quarter of the images I normally would, but in the end, I still found a few that felt like myself. I let the camera see ME. I let myself be art.

I wore the darkness until it fit like skin.

I just dropped a fresh set of self portraits on Socially Taboo. The full 80 image gallery shows my complete posing progression, a great guide for variation and transition.
