6 more weeks until we become a family of four 🥹

I can’t even express how excited I am to see Kate become a big sister. She was MADE for it (and everyone around us agrees 😂). It’s also a little bittersweet knowing the days of just her and I are coming to an end… but I know what’s ahead will be even better than we can imagine. So I’m choosing to just be really thankful 🤍

I started this business at our kitchen table with her in the high chair next to me playing with baby food. She came on so many shoots with me, strapped to my chest in those early days. Getting ready for baby #2 has made me reflect on what this last year and a half of motherhood + business has looked like, and it’s been really special.

I’ll be taking some time off at the end of April to focus on our family and recover, and then easing back into work with a few fun, creative projects this summer 🤭

This will be my first postpartum season being self-employed, which definitely adds a different layer to it 😜 but I’m really grateful for the flexibility it gives our family in this season.

God has been so faithful through all of it, and we have so much peace knowing He sees what’s ahead too.

Did you know approximately 81% of Instagram users leverage the platform for researching new products and brands? 👀

There’s a very good chance your potential customers are going to check your instagram before buying. In this day and age, an active, updated profile serves as a digital trust signal. It’s what we use to look up restaurants in the area, see what events are happening this weekend, decide what coffee shop to go to, what photographer to book, what stores to visit, what excursion to try.

It’s amazing because it does something your business cards could never do - it gives instant visual proof.

Your instagram account is like a living, breathing business card because people get to experience your brand through the photos and reels you put out.

So here’s a question to think on… If 100 new accounts looked you up this week, would you be happy with your brands first impression?

I welcomed Ideal Rise to my client roster last month and we have had so much fun building this brand from absolute scratch.

It has also reinforced one of my beliefs: social media is one of the most powerful ways to grow a business. We hard launched in January with no work lined up. From one free post I made for him, we got his first stair contract (and it wasn’t a small one). And it also wasn’t a one-off.

We’re two months in now and our online presence has become our main source of lead generation.

Marketing in the trades is all about showing process, earning trust, being consistent and letting the quality of your work speak for itself.

And yes, I may be slightly more invested in this client than most, as we are married 😉

Understanding what your metrics are telling you is ESSENTIAL to your content strategy.

And it’s probably more simple than you think! It’s one small adjustment that puts hundreds (or thousands) of new eyes on your business within a few posts.

Work smarter, not harder🤝

Here’s the breakdown (save for later):

Low views → Your hook isn’t strong enough.
Low likes → It’s not resonating.
Low comments → It’s not inviting conversation.
Low shares → It’s not relatable or worth passing on.
Low saves → It’s not delivering clear value.

Instead of changing everything at once, here’s what I recommend:

Choose 1–2 metrics you want to improve.
Revisit your audience insights and get clear on who are you actually speaking to.
Then tweak 10–12 pieces of content with intention and test, test, test.

This contest was about showcasing what a female entrepreneur looks like to you - any field, any trade.
