Booking a family photo session while you’re on vacation is such a sweet idea. You get photos in scenery you don’t normally have, your photographer often takes you to a spot you might not have found otherwise, and it’s just a really nice way to slow down, soak it all in, and connect as a family while you’re all together. Happy New Year to everyone!! I’m looking at the date of my last post and realizing it’s been almost a year since I last shared anything here. My almost one-year-old baby I just rocked to sleep was only a month old at the time!

This last year with my little guy has gone by so fast, and it’s given me an even deeper appreciation for photos. I look back at images from even just a few months ago and get teary-eyed thinking about how much he’s changed, and how much I already miss that version of him that I’ll never get back — even though I know there are so many beautiful versions still to come.

People always say, you must have so many great photos of him from when he was a newborn, but the truth is I was too tired and overwhelmed most days to even think about picking up the camera. I’m so glad I pushed myself to do it when I could though, because it makes the few images I do have that much more meaningful. 🤍

It felt fitting that my first post back would be from one of my favourite newborn sessions since becoming a mother myself! Things are about to get more emotional around here I can tell 😂
