There always comes a time, when someone wants to share their thoughts with me, and I am always happy to listen. However, when the thought or opinion is about the costs of my time, energy, and effort, in a negative way, I tend to shut down the conversation pretty quickly.

I am NOT a "Professional" photographer. I am a single individual, who likes to capture memories for people, through a lens. I never took Photography lessons in school, or claim to have this page as my full-time job. I do, however, think my photos are beautiful, and my time is deserving of the costs I associate with capturing them for you.

Today, I was price shamed for the costs of my Christmas mini-sessions. I would like to note a few things:

1. My sessions are 15 minutes because that's all it takes to get 10 images. As proven by the Fall mini 15-minute sessions, where, all of my clients received more than 5 images (only 5 were included in the costs of the session), actually some received 45-60 images, at no additional charge.

2. I base my fees upon other photographers in the region, some amateur, some professional. And I would like to share some of those other business' prices, as copied directly from their facebook posts:
Ottawa- "Sessions are 20 minutes long and include 10 high resolution, edited photos for $175".
Ottawa- "Sessions are 15 minutes long and include 5 high resolution images for $245".
Ottawa- "Sessions are 20 minutes long, include 5 edited images $185.99 plus tax".
Ottawa- "Sessions are 15 minutes long, and include 10 edited images $299.00".

3. I am a mother. A small business owner. A full-time employee with a private company. The money you pay for my services are not going to a CEO of a large company, to pay for their vacation or pension. Your money is going to a mother getting her daughter into dance classes, swimming lessons and extra curriculars.

Please be kind. I am here to support clients to make lasting memories at a fraction of the cost of many other photographers in the area.
