the secret to getting really good candid photos? buffer time.
not a tight, back-to-back timeline where you’re sprinting from ceremony to portraits to dinner. actual breathing room built into your day.
the best photos I take are never the posed ones. they’re the moments in between. people laughing with their grandma. your partner stealing a bite of food. your best friend ugly crying in the corner in the best way.
those moments only happen when people are relaxed. and people only relax when there’s no one stressing about getting to the next thing on the list.
when your timeline has buffer, your wedding day actually feels like a wedding day instead of a race.
so if you’re in planning mode right now — fight for the buffer. your future self (and your photos) will thank you. 🤝

people always ask what makes a good wedding photo. it’s not the lighting or the lens.
it’s anticipating the moments before they happen — and being in position to capture them.
reading a room full of people, all feeling something different, all at the same time, is genuinely one of my favourite parts of this job.
