You can have a Winter Festival any time of year with this piece!

My inspiration? Well, I love winter. Being from North Bay, I grew up and created many great memories of the season.

After researching music with a winter theme, I found there really isn't a lot of quality music out there. Moreover, much of the music that has been written is more subdued (Christmas Carols excluded) and doesn't reflect my experience.

My solution? Write something that does!

From My brain to your music stand, this is River Valley Sketches, a piece that promises Celtic vibes with an Ontario twist!

The inspiration for River Valley Sketches came while I was living in the small town of New Hamburg, Ontario, a town intersected by rhe Nith River. It inspired me to look at the Scottish River Nith, the British ties to the area ... at that point, my mind was off to the races!

I’m excited to share that I’m rebranding from Matthew J. Donnelly, Photographer (and Matthew Donnelly, Musician) to Matthew Donnelly Creative.

This new name better reflects who I am and everything I do, instead of limiting me to just one art form.

You’ll still see plenty of my photography, but now you’ll also get more of my playing, composing, writing, and whatever creative projects I decide to sink my teeth into.

I don't take a ton of animal shots, but when I do, there's usually a cat involved.

Here are four shots of some of my past furry family members (and current – the Oreo is probably sprawled out on a bed somewhere as we speak). Each picture takes me right back down memory lane.

These beautiful kitties brought so much love into my life, and looking back, I realize I need to start taking glamour shots of my newer cats, Sophia and Ricky!

Never stop pulling out your camera!

I have been a little creatively blocked recently, but one of the ways I'm working through it is by continually looking through a lens. Sometimes, it helps!
