I LOVE LOVE LOVE ABBA and was so stoked to see that this song was available to use for my post. These ladies have grown up together, well, mostly during summer holidays they’ve been campground neighbors. Which I think is so amazing, reminds me of the penpal I used to have that I really should try to find again!! Anyhoo, during my own summer vacation to the Shuswap I happily joined in on their beach shenanigans and these are some of the results ☺️

Always showing up to my sessions at least half an hour early so I can photograph all the beauty around me. This gorgeous display can be found at the gardens at the Lacombe Memorial Center. This afternoon I got to make some memories for a very sweet couple before they said their "I do's" and it was quite honestly the sweetest thing I've witnessed in a long time. 🥰

Took a little vacation to the Shuswap 🌞 Did I need this or what, even though I ended up catching a cold 4 days in, this little break was exactly what my body and soul needed. I’m grateful for the family and friends I got to visit, the portrait sessions I got to shoot, the food I was able to eat (and taste! 🤧), the beach I got to be lazy on, the BC berries I got to bring home, the games I got to play, the reading I had time for, the endless swimming the dogs got to do. All of it. I’m sad I had to cancel plans because the cold followed me home, but I know this break is needed. I hope you’re all having an amazing summer so far and I hope to cross paths with you during the beautiful days we have left of it 🌞😍😘

I just can’t even. How cute are these two? It seems like just yesterday that I was wishing Bailey and my oldest would grow up and fall in love with each other 🥹😂 Well that’s obviously not happening because just look at how Michael looks at her, and how happy they both are 😍💍. Bailey & Michael, thank you for asking me to travel to your beautiful little neck ‘o the woods to photograph this joyous occasion. I couldn’t have been more honoured. 😘

I am thinking these hatchlings are just a few days old at most! I was so excited to see them and to be able to get as close as I did with my camera, overjoyed to say the least! Might be packing my camera a little more for awhile so I can track their growth, gosh they're cute 🥰

It's Fact Friday! ☺️
Can we talk about copyright for a sec?
Something happened recently that stung a little, actually, it stung a lot, and honestly, it made me realize I've never really talked about this, but I think now is the perfect time!
I collaborated with someone recently. She contributed time and materials to our set, and I am genuinely grateful for that. But here's something I think a lot of people don't realize — contributing to a set does not make the resulting images yours.
The person behind the camera owns the photograph. That's copyright law. The second the image is captured, by law, copyright belongs to the photographer. The image itself — the framing, the light, the moment I chose to capture, that is my copyright. That belongs to me.
And here's where I think many people get confused, personal use and commercial use are not the same thing. Even if someone were given permission to use an image personally, that does not extend to using it to promote a business, sell a product, or represent their brand. Those are two very different things, and commercial use without permission carries real legal weight.
Using my images without permission, even images you were in or helped to style, is still infringement. And yes, that includes using AI to remove a watermark or alter an image.
I'm not here to be ugly about it. But I do think this conversation matters, especially as AI makes it easier than ever to take and modify someone else's work.

So I'm curious, is this the first time you've heard of Copyright? Has a photographer ever discussed this with you? Did you know that personal use and commercial use of an image are treated completely differently under copyright law? And have you ever had to navigate something like this with a client or as a client?
