My latest time in the desert was a tripppp. I snapped a few photos for Cindy Jane Boutique then embarked on a solo mission with my rented mustang convertible and the desert heat. I met incredible artists, vintage shop owners & designers, photographers, and strangers during my four days exploring Palm desert, Joshua Tree, and Yucca. I hit every thrift shop I could find, ate pineapple dole whip more than once, and found myself at home staying at Airbnb in Joshua Tree.

Airbnb in Joshua Tree is nestled into the JT hills. I woke early with the sun, enjoyed the hot tub & cold dip in the cowboy pool, sat in the fire pit, and photographed each carefully curated part of my home away from home.

I ended the trip driving to Orange county, lying alone at the beach, then finding a burger shack with an insane view & chatting with strangers until sunset.

California is my lover & she never disappoints me.

While I was editing this session my daughter leaned over and said, “Mom is that a Barbie?”. Then she leaned in closer and said, “Wait, that’s a human?!”. To which I replied, yes sweetie that’s our hair stylist INCHES BY ASHLEY. From the mouths of babes and I couldn’t have said it any better myself 🤍🫦💋

I remember when I used to post everyday and now I hardly ever do, as I age and grow my relationship to art and consumption has become both slower & more meaningful. This collection of maternity art with Taylor Braun reminded me how much I love photographing baby bellies. Taylor, you’re a gift to photograph and to know.

Wedding galleries are my favourite collection of moments between two people and their families. The experience of being able to capture the love between two people over a few days at a destination wedding is such a beautiful feeling and I’m so grateful for the forever memories and relationships born from this gig. 💗

I wish I could voice note this.

I’m sitting on so many beautiful galleries I haven’t been posted because I’ve been too busy living which seems to be my norm the last few years. After grad school I vowed to myself to slow down, but the truth is I sped up. I left my husband of 17 years and spent a year going back and forth between different residences so the kids didn’t have to. I spent that year grieving my home, my backyard, my neighborhood, the trees that changed colour and gave my kids shade to play, and my golden retriever who would stay at the house with the man I was with since I was 21 and my kids on their weeks away from me. I got a fish and then a townhouse and for the first time in 8 years started parenting without any childcare to rely on (besides my mom and thank Jesus for her).

To my wonderfully patient incredible clients: I’m obsessed with you. Capturing you and turning you into art makes me beyond grateful. you are gorgeous and I could photograph your copper locks, tattoos, and beautiful soul all day everyday 🤍

I grew up covered in sand, nightly tick checks from long hours in tall grass and climbing trees, ocean water in every direction where we jumped wave after wave and lakes that warmed enough from June to September there was hardly a moment I wasn’t under water. Neighbours to borrow an egg, or a 1/2 cup of flour, lobster on every lunch menu and even for breakfast, lupins that grew as wild weeds that filled ditches and hills with purple and pinks that matched the sunset while I whispered “Pink skies at night; sailor’s delight” 10 times a summer, and mornings of fog so thick it made my straight hair curl. We listened to the Rankin Family and danced in our kitchen and as soon as I turned 18 I left for school searching for something more to do only to find myself right back where I started with a valley honey crisp apple to sink my teeth into, a few games of 45’s, and people who feel like home.

This day was a testament to staying true to yourself and the sacredness of love. I got an email a few weeks ago from Victoria, we hopped on a zoom call, and she told me her and Austin had recently got engaged, she got her dress, and she wanted to get married in a field at 1pm close to their home & the fire hall with only them and their witnesses. We spent the morning at their home, as they got ready together, and ventured into a field on a hot spring day where they said their vows. Forever grateful getting to be invited into your most precious and intimate moments 💗
