Monochrome strips away the distractions.

Without colour competing for attention, the focus shifts to light, shape, expression and movement. Every shadow matters. Every line becomes stronger. And sometimes, a quieter image says far more.

Standing still was never really the point.

Playing with scale, movement and repetition to turn a simple studio portrait into something a little less expected—and considerably less normal.

“Why does professional photography cost what it does?”
It’s a fair question—especially when you might only spend an hour or two with the photographer.
The short answer is that you’re not paying for someone to press a button. You’re paying for everything that makes that click become a photograph you’ll still love years from now.
The planning. The studio preparation. The equipment. The lighting. The direction. The years of experience. The image selection, editing, retouching and backups. And, occasionally, the completely unplanned idea that turns out to be everyone’s favourite.
Our latest blog explains what you’re really paying for when you hire a professional photographer—and how much happens before, during and after your session that clients never see.
Read it here:

What are you really paying for when you hire a professional photographer? Discover how experience, preparation, editing and equipment shape every image. Professional photography involves much more than the time spent in front of the camera. Here’s what goes into planning, photographing, editing an...

A very well-deserved congratulations to Vania, who landed her first small speaking role in an indie film after putting her new headshots to work!

We loved having Vania in the studio and creating a collection that showed not only what she looks like, but her warmth, personality and natural presence in front of the camera.

New headshots. New opportunities. First speaking role. We’d say that’s a pretty good start!!

Congratulations, Vania - we can’t wait to see where this takes you next! 🎬

“I hate having my picture taken.”

We hear it all the time—and honestly, you’re in very good company.

Most people feel at least a little uncomfortable when a camera is pointed at them. The good news is that you don’t need to know how to pose, perfect your smile or suddenly become a professional model to get photographs you love.

Our latest blog shares 10 practical tips to help you feel more relaxed and confident in front of the camera—whether you’re booking headshots, personal branding photography, family portraits, graduation photos or a creative portrait session.

Because the right photographer won’t simply take your picture. They’ll guide you, help you settle in and make the whole experience feel far less intimidating than you imagined.

You may even leave saying, “That was actually fun.” It happens more often than you’d think. 😉

A phone photo, photographed with a professional camera. It seemed appropriate.

Phone cameras are really good now. We use them ourselves and we’re not going to pretend they can’t take a great photograph.

But put a phone and professional camera in the same carefully prepared setting and they still won’t create the same result.

Our latest blog explains why—from lenses and studio lighting to branding libraries, editing and what happens when you try to print that perfect phone photo at the local drugstore.

Phone photos aren’t bad. They simply have a different job.
