Yikes! High risk, high reward?
Being on Vancouver Island for the first time, I was pretty excited to explore the area and hopefully capture a few of those iconic images I’d been hoping for.
So, naturally, I decided the best time to head out was before daybreak.
As I got closer to the trailhead, I encountered a small black bear just hanging out on the side of the road. It slowly wandered back into the woods—apparently deciding I wasn't of much interest.
I continued on toward the parking area and passed this rather ominous warning sign. Cougars? Really? When I arrived, I looked around...
Nobody.
Just me.
The forest.
And, apparently, my questionable decision-making skills.
The sun was just beginning to come up, and I had a choice: turn around and head back to the safety—or start hiking into the wilderness alone after just seeing a bear.
Obviously, I went hiking.
If you’re looking for a way to feel very, very alive, I highly recommend this strategy.
Was it high risk? Probably, maybe?
Was it high reward? Hopefully?
Stay tuned... 🐻📸
