A beautiful session from last spring! ✨ This time of year is always my favourite. Everything feels so fresh and green!

Details:
Full sessions are $357 (including GST), 30-45 minutes long and you receive about 100-125 edited pictures. Mini sessions are $250 (including GST), 20-25 minutes long and you receive 30-40 edited pictures.

I’d been meaning to do our family photos since May, but since I never set a date on the calendar to do so, it kept falling to the side. And because of the outfits I chose for our family photos I knew I had to do them before the weather turned cooler and the evenings shortened.

I finally settled on a date, asked a fellow photographer/friend for a location and we were good to go. We were set on taking our pictures near Lundbreck with tall cliffs on either side, a river running through and some pretty trees for extra colour.

However, by the time we finished supper and headed out the door I was worried we’d be too late to get pictures there as the sun would be too low in the sky. I was right, it was much too dark inside the gorge to take pictures there and I figured it wouldn’t be worth our time. Thankfully the roads driving up were gorgeous so we backtracked a few minutes and set up in a ditch 🤪.

We got a few pictures before the sun set over the mountains and even though I prefer those more “golden” pictures, the blue hour pictures are still beautiful.

All that to say, while planning and getting family pictures done can feel like a hassle, it’s always worth it 🩶. — and it’s miles easier if you’re not your own photographer and someone else is helping you plan out most of the details!

My last newborn session of the year (or of the spring? summer? —I know it’s still technically spring, but June is summer in my books 😉)

Over the last year or two, I have pivoted many times in my photography business. I genuinely love what I do, but I struggled with how to fit my former life into my new one as a mother. Hence, all the different business ideas I’ve announced on here 🤪.

BUT, I finally feel like I’m at a place where I know what works for my family and I, as well as what I enjoy. While I love doing newborn sessions, I also love photographing couples, families and even just solo portrait sessions.

Weddings will always carry a special place in my heart as well, but unless you’re a past client or family/friend, I am pausing on that for the time being. They take a lot of time and energy, and right now my first priority is my family.

Soooo… what does that look like for booking? Other than the projects I have booked for this summer I am not taking on anything new, as my creative bucket is full right now 😅.

I don’t know if any other photographers have this, but I have seasons where I just want to take all the pictures, and others where I found my calendar so full, that at the end of the month I just need a breather. (I’m needing that breather right now haha 😂)

That being said, keep an eye on my stories (or even just reach out randomly!) as I will post availability on there.

Oh, and from now on, I will be doing couples, families, portraits as well as newborn sessions. Turns out, I like the variety 🤎

Also— note to self, don’t wear a wool sweater for a newborn shoot. It gets a bit warm haha 😂

Aaaand the big news is I’m entering the world of newborn photography!! You might be wondering what the big deal is. After all, haven’t I already been doing in-home lifestyle (newborn) sessions?!

Well, let me tell you 😉. What I will be offering is a combo of studio newborn sessions and in-home lifestyle newborn sessions.

I love studio newborn sessions simply for the fact that this is where you get those sweet curly newborn photos. BUT, in the same way, I do not love the cookie cutter sameness of every newborn shoot. You know, same studio, same props, and same outfits leads to some pretty similar looking newborn photos across different families.

I also love in-home lifestyle sessions for how it enables every shoot to be unique and different. BUT, it is really hard, if not impossible to get those shots of your little one all curled up.

Sooo, I decided Lethbridge needed a third option. Something that has the best of both worlds. And this is where I will be offering gently posed newborn photography!!

Basically, I come into your home with all the things I need to get those precious little moments of your newborn. You never have to leave the comfort of your own home AND every shoot I do will be unique to your family and your home!

Wrapping your newborn for those curly shots, is much harder than it looks, and while practicing on a doll (yes, I’ve been playing with dolls again the last few weeks haha 😂) does work, it’s obviously not the same as the real deal.

This newborn session has my heart. Having return clients is always so special, but it’s even better when they become dear friends 🫶

I’ll never forget running into you at the grocery store. You told me all excited that you were pregnant & I was like, “What?!?? ME TOO!!” 😂.

Watching you become a wife & then a mom and having our sweet little boys just a few days apart has been my favourite thing.

Thank you for trusting me to capture so many sweet moments in your life 🥹

I really thought this session would be a complete flop.

It was crazy windy & I had my son tucked inside my wrap the entire time. To say I was a little distracted is an understatement haha.

But as you can see, they’re gorgeous. (I mean it’s not hard when you have a sister this naturally beautiful haha 😍)

Would you have guessed I was totally off my game with this session?!

P.s. I don’t normally take my son on sessions, but family is different 🫶

I’m alive 😅

It’s been a long hiatus but I’m looking forward to a new chapter. (I’m not being cryptic, I just want to take my time with new decisions and routes before announcing 😉.)

Hey, hello!!

It’s high time that I introduced myself over here & shared what I’m all about!

(And there’s kind of two parts to this, so just bear with me 😉)

I’ve been a wedding photographer for over 2.5 years now and it was a huge part of my identity. And I say ‘was’ because everything changed for me when I found out I was pregnant. I knew that with raising a family I wouldn’t have as much time to throw into my photography business anymore, and I just felt that wasn’t fair to my brides, my business, & myself.

This leads me to the second part of it. Being financially independent has always been important to me and it still is. But I wasn’t sure which direction to turn my business into while still being able to keep my family as the first priority in my life.

If I’m going to be brutally honest with you, it’s because I’ve been looking at my business in the wrong way. I just wanted to be able to make an easy income without pouring too much passion or too much of myself into.

(I’m going to be very blunt with y’all, that’s why I started free-lance social media managing. It was easy for me to do and I loved it! But mostly, I loved that I didn’t need to pour a lot of myself into it.)

So I was desperately trying to find something that would continue to fuel my passion to help others.

And while I’ve found the answer, it also means that I’m about to step into something that scares the absolute crap out of me 😂

You may have already guessed it, but it comes back down to money, business & success. (Now you know why I’m scared —money is a touchy subject 🤪) I have a lot of baggage when it comes down to money & it’s definitely influenced my business & success.

A lot of us have negative mindsets when it comes to these things (money is the root of all evil anyone?? 😅). And this is why I want to share my journey with you. I want to inspire you to work on your beliefs surrounding money, so you can have more abundance in your life!

As much as I’m terrified of being open about my journey with money, I’m also so freaking excited to share it with you!

So, welcome! I hope you’ll stick around as I take this ship in a completely new direction. 🤎

Before I got pregnant I didn’t really understand how other pregnant women felt so uncomfortable and foreign in their own bodies. I always thought to myself that when I got pregnant I would be different. I would actually celebrate the changes in my body.

Turns out, I was wrong. I was so excited to get an actual bump when I first got pregnant, but that didn’t last. As the months passed, I became less and less comfortable with all the changes my body was going through to accommodate the little babe growing inside of me.

I didn’t love people checking out my belly before meeting my eyes and I felt even less comfortable wearing tight clothing that showed off my bump. 😏

But all those feelings eased. As I was getting dressed this morning, I found myself looking at my body with a gentle appreciation instead. Seeing my rounded belly this morning filled me with a sense of warmth. It made me want to get out my camera and snap a few pictures so that I could always remember the home I first made for my little one. 🤎

Which brings me to my point, it’s hard seeing your body change and not being able to fit into your old clothes. But at the same time it’s also so beautiful that we can literally grow a little baby inside of us. Instead of rejecting the changes our bodies make, I want you to embrace them. 😉

It is hard and so difficult seeing your body change and not knowing if it’ll ever be the same again, but at the same time it’s so worth it. You’ve made the first home for your son or daughter and that is truly so so special.

So if you’ve thought about doing maternity pictures, but you’ve held back from actually booking, go do it! Or at least ask a friend to take a few pictures of you. You’ll look back with fondness at your belly one day, even if you can’t right now ❤️

Have you ever felt like you just don’t have enough time to get everything done?!

I have too.

And it’s not fun.

Feeling overwhelmed is something that I have become VERY familiar with. It can feel like there’s a million and one things to do and you just don’t know how on earth you’re going to get them all done.

Well, I’ve got a little encouragement for you. 🤎

First of all, it’s okay to take a breather. Take some space for yourself and think about what your priorities are and why you started this business.

Secondly, a step to the side does NOT mean you’re taking a step back. Your path might not always be straightforward, but as long as you’re focused on your end goal or your “north star” you’ll still keep moving forward!

Overwhelm is so real and in my opinion is the number 1 killer for businesses.

This is why you need to take a step to the side sometimes and regroup. Having that clarity of why you started your business puts things into perspective. It enables you to prioritize what is important and what isn’t important for you right in that moment.

And if you’re struggling with your WHY, slide into my DM’s! I’ll do my best to help YOU find that clarity again! 🥰
