Hiii it’s me 👋🏼 Abigail (Abbe for short) for those of you who aren’t familiar with my name 😊

I thought I’d share some things about me, since it’s been a while since I’ve done one of these & there’s some new people 🖤

🤍 I fell in love with taking photos when I was a young kid (around 6-7 yrs old) when my parents let me use their canons and Nikons. I started with shooting in my childhood backyard and around our acreage, as well as the country side. Lots of sky photos, macro shots & landscape photography.

🖤 I was born in BC Canada, but grew up in Alberta not far from the AB/SK border. I have a huge love for both the mountains, and the prairies. From the vast lush forests in BC to the prairie flats of AB: both feel like home to me in different ways. The west kootenays is my favourite place in BC. The central Alberta sunrises & sunsets have a choke hold on my heart.

🤍 If someone asked me what my dream job would be I would have to say a Photographer for National Geographic 🥹 wildlife photographer and nature photographer, traveling all over the globe and sharing otherwise unseen, unforgettable moments & experiences would be a dream. Howeverrrr, an almost equal part of me loves Portraiture & Branding Photography. Finding an equal balance of both or 60/40 would be absolutely wicked. Fantasy & Creative Portraiture is something I’d like to do more of.

🖤 For as long as I can remember my “favourite animal” has been Owls. In the last 5 years or so, I’ve grown to love Eagles just as much. I love the spiritual feeling I get everytime I encounter them.

🤍 my business name “Apricity” means; the warmth of the sun in winter. It comes from the Latin word ‘apricitas’ meaning, sunny. My step dad calls me “Apricity” 🌞 he texted me one day “I learned a new word today” I said “oh?” .. he said “it is you”. I said, “hmm… okay? What is it?” And he sent me “Apricity”. I had never heard it before so I googled what it meant quick, as he sent another saying “do you know what that means?” I replied back “no” 😆😆 and he sent me the definition. A truly unique way to be called “Sunshine” with a meaning that meant a lot to me. 💛

I’ve made a goal for this year to take a vacation somewhere hot again. 🌴🍹🌺 I need to feel my toes in the sand next to the ocean again. & I can’t wait to share the experience with my daughters this time. Last time I went on a tropical vacation was at the end of 2017, just 4 days after I found out I was pregnant with my first baby. I bonded so much with my Tini bubs on said vacation. 🎀🩷

All of us women are beautiful and unique in our own ways. And what a fun way to be able to look back at ourselves in our younger days, when we are older. The Great Grey Owl 🖤🦉🤍

This was such a surreal experience. Over the weekend I went on a wonderful little getaway. Not long after entering the boreal forests of Alberta This sweet Great Grey Owl was perched on top of a road sign on the side of the road as we drove by. I’m always scanning the tree lines, tree tops, power poles and fence lines for birds and wildlife to potentially photograph when traveling. “Omg did you see that owl just sitting there?!” .. “no!!! where?!?! I missed it” I replied (because I was looking past the road signs into the trees) “should I turned around so we can see if you can get some photos of it?” “Oh it’ll probably be gone or fly away but yeah let’s try” I said. Sure enough, this cutie pie stayed perched in their spot. Scanning the ground for prey. We whipped back around facing our original direction of travel, so the owl would be on my side of the vehicle again and rolled right up next to it. Still the little cutie stayed put. Paying no mind to us ooing and awing in amazement over how little it cared about us being so close. Hazards on, pulled off on the shoulder of the single lane highway we were on, with my window rolled down and my camera stuck out the window; shot after shot I expected it to fly away.. but it stayed put. Looking back at me every single time I said “hey there” or “pretty owl look over here”. I managed to get so many amazing shots, but for now I’ll share this one as it’s one of my favourites. ✨🦉✨

There are some moments with your camera that leave you feeling full of adrenaline and a euphoric high from joy and excitement. This.. this was one of them for me.. 🦉🐍📸💛 (Oct 17th, 2023)
In the split of a second, this Great Horned Owl 🦉 came flying out of the trees before flying back into them. My camera was on my passenger seat beside me, already turned on (my camera being turned on was the only way this photo was even possible or there wouldn’t of been enough time). As I was cruising back roads seeking to find some wildlife and/or birds to photograph. I quickly grabbed it and just shot the photo as fast as I could. As I had only seconds to do so. I didn’t think I actually got a clear shot, let alone a good one. Let me tell you, I was freaking out with excitement when I realized.. the Owl was carrying its freshly caught lunch.. a snake!!! To be completely honest I had no idea until that moment that some owls even eat snakes.
As someone who has their spirit guides visit them in the form of birds a lot — especially Eagles and Owls (maybe it’s because I’m an air sign) I always try to look into the meaning of and significance to moments like these.. 🥹💓 once I learn the spiritual meaning behind a certain animal/bird crossing my path for example, it always always always resonates in some way, shape or form..
🦉 Symbolic meanings for the owl are: Intuition: Ability to see what others do not see and beyond deceit. Wisdom: Capacity to have insight and know when to act. Transformation: A great change/transition will come into your life.
🦉 Seeing an owl during the day means that you are on a path of self-discovery and becoming more aware, conscious, enlightened, intuitive, wise & knowledgeable.
🦉 a bird carrying a snake symbolizes a transition or change. While the bird is moving to higher ground, it is changing its environment and starting anew. This symbol of change and transition indicates moving away from the past and onward to the future.
🦉 The snake, a symbol of transformation, sexuality, shedding one’s skin, wisdom. The owl, a symbol of the shadow side, deep wisdom, inner knowing, the divine feminine. The owl eating the snake – wisdom consuming wisdom.
