I’ve seen the conversations happening in the photography community right now regarding AI, children’s images, and sharing our work online. I’ve thought about it, and I want to be transparent about where I stand. ❤️
What will never change is that your consent matters more than my content. However, I will not be removing all identifiable images of children from my photography page.
I completely understand why some photographers and parents are choosing to do that, and I respect that decision. The capabilities of AI are unsettling, and unfortunately there will always be people who misuse technology and images in ways they were never intended to be used.
But sharing my work is also a huge part of how I run Wodgate Photography. Families find me because they can see real sessions, real connections, real personalities and the kind of memories I create. My portfolio is quite literally how I show you what I do.
If you do not want your child shared on my website or social media, tell me. No explanation necessary. No hurt feelings. No pressure. I will always respect that. I was astounded when I heard of a local photographer a couple of years ago who was charging a fee to clients who didn’t consent.
And if I have shared an image of your child in the past that you are no longer comfortable having online, message me and I will try to remove it.
These photographs belong to your memories first and my portfolio second. ❤️
I’m going to continue photographing Weddings, babies, toddlers, kids and families the way I always have — documenting their little faces, personalities, milestones and all the things their parents never want to forget.
I’m also going to continue sharing that work with permission.
There isn’t a perfect answer for navigating technology that changes this quickly. For me, right now, this is the decision that feels right for my business while still giving every family complete control over whether their images are shared.
